Synopsis[edit]
- Sixty years in the future, Lisa recounts the story of how Homer was scapegoated for a power outage that plunged Springfield into darkness days before Thanksgiving. When nobody believes Homer's innocent, Homer has to convince his family of the truth before taking down the real culprit, Mr. Burns.
Plot[edit]
Sixty years in the future, the Simpson family sits down for the first Thanksgiving meal since Homer passed away. Before the meal starts, the family lights their remembrance candles. Lisa then explains that the people of Springfield light the candles in remembrance of the great blackout that almost destroyed the town. She then tells the story.
One night, Marge wakes Homer up to tell him that there's a big storm coming to Springfield and asks him if he's installed the storm windows yet, like he promised to do. Marge quickly finds out that Homer hasn't and Homer promises to do so after work. Homer then puts on a Hawaiian shirt because it's Hawaiian day at the Power Plant and he has been elected King Kamehameh. At the power plant, everyone celebrates Hawaiian day. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns welcomes many new non-union workers to the Power Plant, with the intention of having them replace the old workers. When Homer is made to take out the trash at the party, he almost throws it into the reactor core chute but stops at the last second and throws it into the trash chute. Meanwhile, Mr. Burns asks Smithers to plug his phone into an overloaded plug socket, which starts a fire. Everyone evacuates the power plant as it melts down and Springfield loses its power.
