Synopsis[edit]

"Professor Frink secretly helps Homer, through a zoom interview, land a high-level position at a state-of-the-art nuclear plant in Shelbyville. But since Homer lacks the skills to actually perform the job, Frink must monitor Homer's work situation remotely and dictate his every word... causing Frink to fear he's created a monster."

Plot[edit]

Fifteen years ago, a younger Homer wakes up ready to work at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, eager to get started. He gets to work, refuses donuts, and realizes that he's only two positions away from the top management. Homer then gets to reading a book about succeeding in business at his workstation. In the present, Homer is asleep at his workstation instead, having fallen asleep reading Gravy of the Month. Homer then leaves work early and goes to Moe's Tavern. At the tavern, Homer speaks to Professor Frink who reveals that he has also gotten nowhere in life. Homer then receives a phone call from someone who had seen his resume and offered him a job application for the Kevät Kenttä Nuclear Power Plant. Not knowing how he will pass the interview without help, Homer asks Frink for his assistance.

Back at home, Homer tells Marge that they won't have to be poor for much longer as he will get the new job. Homer joins the interview with Onni Korhonen, accidentally interrupting his interview with Dr. Spivak in the process. Korhonen asks Dr. Spivak to step away from the call while he quickly interviews Homer, not expecting him to get far. However, with Frink's help, Homer aces the interview and gets the job, which angers Dr. Spivak. Homer then asks Frink for his help coaching him through the job as well, as he doesn't believe he can do it without Frink's help.

Homer quits his job at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant and Frink gives him glasses and an earpiece so he can tell Homer what he needs to say in response to things. On his first day, Onni Korhonen shows Homer around the building and reveals that Dr. Spivak has also been hired, but as Homer's assistant. Dr. Spivak isn't too happy with this arrangement and is hostile towards Homer as a result. Meanwhile, Marge becomes excited over her new lavish lifestyle. At the Kevät Kenttä Nuclear Power Plant, Dr. Spivak questions Homer, thinking he's just using a chatbot to get answers to everything as he seems like an idiot other times.

At dinner with the family, Homer tells everyone that he's happy with his new job. However, Lisa questions how he's doing so well at the job. Marge interrupts Lisa to focus on the positives of Homer's new job, in particular the money he's now making for the family. Lisa then goes to her room and sings a lament about Homer's job. Back at the Kevät Kenttä Nuclear Power Plant, Dr. Spivak has invited Lenny and Carl over to talk about Homer's job performance at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant. At first, they refuse to tell her anything, but after she gets them drunk on Svensk Ek Whisky, they tell her that Homer was awful at his job. Dr. Spivak then goes through Homer's office and finds the earpiece. She tells Frink that his cheating enabled Homer to steal a job he can't do and Frink realizes that he's crossed a line.

Professor Frink tells Homer that he won't be helping him anymore, despite Homer's pleas. The next day, Homer is called in to see Onni Korhonen, who invites Homer along on a ski trip to Yikes Peak Ski Lodge. Homer reluctantly goes along with Frink still refusing to help him. When Korhonen asks Homer a question, Frink doesn't answer and his budgie answers instead. Dr. Spivak then hacks into the communications and tells Homer that she's now the one in his head. As Homer and Marge get in a ski lift, Dr. Spivak gets in too and convinces Marge to tell Homer to admit he was cheating at his job. When they get to the top of the mountain, Homer tells everyone that he's a fraud, which leads to everyone else admitting they were frauds too. Homer then tells Korhonen that he quits his job, before he slides down the mountain and off a cliff, injuring himself.

After getting out of the hospital, Homer goes back to the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant to get his old job back.
