The TARDIS (acronym for Time And Relative Dimensions In Space) is the iconic space ship used by the Doctor in Doctor Who.

History

At the Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con, Tom Baker is in costume as the fourth incarnation of the Doctor (the one he portrayed), and beside him is the TARDIS.[1]

Alfred Hitchcock exited the TARDIS during the final scene of the British rom-com Love, Indubitably.[2]

The TARDIS later reappears at another Bi-Mon-Sci-Fi-Con.[3]

Behind the Laughter

The original TARDIS was a reused prop from a police procedural show in order to keep production costs low. Commonplace when Doctor Who started in 1963, police call boxes were phased out of Great Britain and gone by the early 1970s.
