Cultural references[edit]

Bart drinks a TaB, a diet cola soft drink produced by The Coca-Cola Company
  • In one ballet class, Bart performed an Arabesque and a demi-entrechat (a "half-entrechat"). After that, he drank a TaB, which was a diet cola soft drink created and produced by The Coca-Cola Company. This drink was introduced in 1963 and discontinued in 2020, and was popular in the 1960s and 1970s.
  • When the TV mysteriously turns off on its own, the musical cue that plays resembles The X-Files theme.
  • Bart's performance reminds Nelson of the famous 1980 film Fame, and the 1982 TV series of the same name, which was based on the film.
  • Homer's first passenger on the Classy Joe's limousine is Mel Brooks. Homer told him he was scared when he saw Brooks' comedy horror film Young Frankenstein. Homer also wants to perform the "2000 Year Old Man" which is a comedy sketch created by Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner.
  • Jimbo cries to Bart's performance and remembers when he saw the 1993 drama film The Joy Luck Club.
  • DMV manageress tells Homer he is worse than Adolf Hitler for smoking in a government building.

Goofs[edit]

  • It's strange how only Bart ended up in ballet, since a big group of children were waiting in line for other sports before there were no places left.
  • Moe sniffs a cigar before unwrapping it, before telling Barney he needs to unwrap the cigar before smoking.
  • Selma can't smell - so she can't say she has a smell she can't live without.
  • Homer needs to pay mortgage, but he already did that with Grampa.
  • The IOU lands on the lamp face-up, but the words can be seen the right way - if that was to happen, it needs to be face-down.
  • When Bart removes the mask, Lisa is in the fifth row, but in the next crowd shot, she isn't there.
  • The test course is just basically a straight line.
  • After Patty's "Throw away the envelope" line, she and Selma switch colors.
