The first content update
The first content update was released on September 21, 2012, and came nearly a month after the game's re-launch on the App Store. The update was 40.3 MB.
Level 21 was introduced, a long-awaited level for players who had finished Level 20 months before. The Muntz House was unlocked with Level 21, and unlocked Nelson. Springfield Library was added as a Level 12 building, and unlocked Martin when built. Also two new premium items were added, the School Bus, unlocking Otto, and the Springfield Observatory. Several new decorations were added as well.
The second content update

The second content update was released on September 28, 2012. The Duff Racer was the only thing added to the game; it was added to celebrate the Season 24 premiere "Moonshine River" on September 30, 2012. When players opened the game they received a notice reading: "Here's a Duff Racer from the Springfield Grand Prix to celebrate the Season 24 premiere on Sunday!"
The third content update
The third content update (version 3.0.0.) was available to download on October 3, 2012. This was a huge update, introducing new Halloween characters and buildings. Players were able to squish zombies after building the Springfield Cemetery, toilet-paper and egg friends' houses, and unlock new Halloween quests.
Level 22 came with the update and added Mrs. Krabappel and her apartment building, as well as several decorations.
The update was partly a tie-in with "Treehouse of Horror XXIII", which aired 4 days after the update was released. Once the player had completed a Mayan calendar in-game, the Mayan God was unlocked. The non-playable character asked the player a question - the player receiving 10 and the first new outfit for the game, Mayan Homer if the player chose the correct answer. Choosing the incorrect answer and then getting the correct answer would unlock Mayan Homer without the player receiving 10.
The Mystery Boxes were also changed to Wicked Treat Boxes and the price was decreased by 4, making the Wicked Treat Boxes the second least costing premium item at the time it was available.
The update was scheduled to end on Halloween 2012, but the features remained in the game for around another week.
The fourth content update
The fourth content update was released on November 5, 2012. The update included two new characters Kent Brockman and Bumblebee Man, two new buildings and several new decorations. The update was 52.7MB.
This update did not remove the Halloween features; the price of the Ray Gun was decreased by 50.
The fifth content update
The fifth content update was released officially on November 8, 2012. This update removed the Halloween features from the game and changed the Halloween rewards for characters and buildings to cash and XP.
Information about this update was revealed on a Facebook account for a Tapped Out fansite. Information on what was included in the game's raw files was posted, which included a new outfit for Homer - Ninja Homer, which was made available around five months later during the Whacking Day content update.
The sixth content update
The sixth content update was an in-app update released on November 13, 2012 which added Fat Tony as a character in the "Wise Guys" collection. Fat Tony's quests were part of an exclusive storyline leading up to the premiere of "Penny-Wiseguys" on November 18, 2012.
The seventh content update
Reports of a seventh content update began on November 29, 2012 when a user of the Tapped Out forums reported that a Christmas-themed Tapped Out logo had appeared on the App Store on the Apple devices. Other users then denied the reports, but then another user posted an image featuring the Christmas logo.
The seventh content update was released on November 30, 2012, and it wasn't a Christmas-themed update - it was an update with a tie-in to "The Day the Earth Stood Cool". The update is 54.5MB. This update removed the ability to buy the Thanksgiving balloons.
Gameplay
Once installing the update, the player receives a notice: "In this Sunday's episode, Springfield gets cool... as will you with the new Cool Brown House!" The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 1", which is to "Build the Cool Brown House". The Cool Brown House is free and requires Level 5. It gives out 90 and 10 every 4 hours. The Cool Brown House takes 4 hours to build and the player receives 10 when it has finished building. Once the house has finished building, the player receives 100 and 10 as a reward for completing the quest. The task for the Cool Brown House is "Raising Pretentious Kids". After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: Hey, someone remodeled one of the brown houses - and it looks cool! It looks like something from the cover of a magazine I've never heard of. I'm gonna break in and solve this mystery.
- Lisa: There's no mystery. You just want to break in to a nice house.
- Homer: Yeah...
The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 2", which is to "Make Homer Break into the Cool Brown House". The task takes 3 minutes and set on its own, the player receives 6 and 2 in reward. It is a one-time only task. After sending Homer on his task and when he reaches the house:
- Homer: This place is crazy! Furniture from Grampa times! Movie posters from non-Bruce Willis movies! And no TV!
- Lisa: I know -- it's so cool!
- Homer: But there's no TV, Lisa. NO TV!!!
- Lisa: Don't you see, Dad? These people are striving for a more eclectic and artistic existence.
- Homer: Hmm... Maybe I should become a cool parent.
- Lisa: But that would take a lifetime of appreciation of music, art, culture...
- Homer: Or I could dress cool and no one would know the difference.
Homer then disappears inside the house. In reward for the quest, the player receives 100 and 10. The player then unlocks a new character - Cool Homer - and gets 25 for unlocking him. Cool Homer is an 'outfit' for Homer. After tapping "Cool Homer"'s exclamation mark:
- Cool Homer: Check it out. Now I'm 'Cool' bald, not 'sad old' bald. And I've got a scarf, a wallet chain, and a goatee! Why do all my head hairs just grow in twos?
- Lisa: Now you're ready to experience foreign films, art walks, Mumford and Sons...
- Cool Homer: Or, I could just walk around, acting like I'm better than other people.
The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 3", which is to "Make Cool Homer Walk around Acting Superior". The task takes 4 hours and set on its own, the player receives 175 and 45 in reward. The player receives 100 and 10 as the reward for the quest. After tapping on Cool Homer's exclamation mark:
- Cool Homer: Man, all that judging and humble bragging has left me parched.
- Apu: Perhaps I can interest you in an inexpensive and flavorless beer?
- Cool Homer: Could I act like the beer is somehow superior because it's crappy and cheap?
- Apu: As long as you pay for it.
- Cool Homer: Yoink!
The player then receives "The Day The Earth Stood Cool Pt. 4", which is to "Make Cool Homer Enjoy a Duff Blue Ribbon". The task takes 8 hours, and set on its own, the player receives 275 and 70 in reward. The player receives 100 and 10 as the reward for the quest. This ends the "The Day The Earth Stood Cool" tetralogy

The eighth content update
On December 3, 2012, The Simpsons: Tapped Out's official Facebook page posted a message: "Let it snow! Springfield's in for some holiday magic with a big new update... coming soon!" - which implied that the update would be released sometime in the first week of December. It was announced on Tapped Out's Facebook page the following day that the holiday update would be released the next day (December 5, the same day when Tapped Out would no longer be able to be played on 1st and 2nd generation iPod touches and iPhones), and included in that post was an image of Santa Homer - a new outfit for Homer that was introduced in the update. With the update also came a new icon for the game, and a new opening menu, also known as a 'splash screen'. The update's limited time currency was Santa Coins.
The update brought Gil into the game - but as a non-playable character. The first time he appeared was when he gave the player the option to buy a premium building (which unlocked an outfit) and a premium decoration together for less than the overall price. The second time he offered the player 25% off donuts - that offer brought a bug to the game which caused several players to be locked out of their games.
Players could buy a Santa's Sack for 5, similar to the Mystery Box, and upon purchase the player would receive between 10-20 Santa Coins. Santa's Sacks were given to the player free in the Daily Play Combo instead of the Mystery Box.
The bug the second of Gil's offers brought presumably caused the update's features to be available until January 10, 2013 rather than January 3, 2013 it was previously supposed to be available to.
The ninth content update
The ninth content update was released on January 11, 2013 after the Christmas features (apart from the snow) were removed in-game. When Tapped Out was released on Android, this update came with it (apart from the US release).

Mr. Plow gameplay
After buying and unlocking Mr. Plow and tapping on his exclamation mark:
- Mr. Plow: Woohoo! I can call myself Mr. Plow again. After being a father, a husband, and a Mayan, finally a title that confers some respect.
- Comic Book Guy: Ahem. I don't see how that moniker applies when you have no plow. That would be like me calling myself Aquaman when I have no Spanish water.
- Mr. Plow: I don't need a plow. I have radioactive plutonium!
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 1", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Attempt to Melt Snow". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with 1,000 and 225 when it is set on its own.
Once the task is selected:
- Comic Book Guy: Great, I can't wait to find out what radioactive creature bites me. I'm pulling for mongoose.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:
- Mr. Plow: I restarted this business hours ago, and yet I still don't have a global empire. Maybe that commercial I made will heat up business. Or since I'm in the snow game, 'cool it down'?
- Moe: Heh heh. Good one, Mr. Plow... you idiot.
- Mr. Plow: I should check it out. Make sure the camera didn't add any weight.
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 2", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Break into the Brown House to Watch his Commercial". The task takes 60 minutes and rewards the player with 105 and 26 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:
- Ned: Morning, Homer. I was sifting the ol' 'stache-arino, when I couldn't help notice you're trying to break into my garage.
- Mr. Plow: Stupid Flanders. I needed to 'borrow' something from you, but I didn't want to wake you up.
- Ned: How neighborly of you. Well, I can unlock it for you now.
- Mr. Plow: Don't think you can. Already broke the lock.
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 3", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Clear Snow". The task takes 8 hours and rewards the player with 420 and 105 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark;
- Apu: Someone pushed a mound of snow up the doors of my store, blocking both I and my customers from entering! Only a person with a plow could have done this.
- Mr. Plow: Did I hear someone in need of the services of Mr. Plow?
- Apu: Ugh. Fine, Mr. Plow, I will pay you to clean this up, while not making logical assumptions about who caused it.
- Mr. Plow: Woohoo! There's no business like snow business.
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 4", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Clear Snow" again. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:
- Mayor Quimby: For, eh, all the hard work you have put in for our fair city, I would like to give you, Mr. Plow, the key to the city.
- Mr. Plow: Hey, didn't you already give me the key and then take it back? I can Google it to make sure my memory is right.
- Mayor Quimby: Yes. But to make amends, I, er, ordered you a special key. This one is made of chocolate.
- Mr. Plow: Mmmmm, honorary chocolate.
The player then receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 5", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Eat the Key to the City". The task takes 4 hours and rewards the player with 260 and 70 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:
- Reverend Lovejoy: Praise be upon you, Mr. Plow. Now that you cleared a path to the church door, we can actually have a service.
- Mr. Plow: Well, God can't help you every time, Reverend Lovejoy.
- Reverend Lovejoy: And since you're here, why don't you stay for my sermon. It's like cocoa for the soul-co. Ugh -- Flanders is getting into my head.
- Mr. Plow: Sorry, Rev. Can't give up these preemo work hours. When the snows on the ground it's ABP: Always Be Plowing.
- Reverend Lovejoy: You know, I know a place where no one would ever pay you to plow. Where the Lake of Fire melts that all away. And where it's never jacket weather.
- Mr. Plow: Oh, I get what you're doing. And it's working.
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 6", which is to "Reach Level 14 and Build the First Church of Springfield" and to "Make Mr. Plow Attend Church". The task is a one-time task; it takes 12 hours and rewards the player with 420 and 100 when it is set on its own.
Once the task is selected:
- Reverend Lovejoy: Welcome, everyone, to today's sermon. We begin with a ready of Corinthians 3 --
- Mr. Plow: Don't hog the pulpit, Reverend. I have an important announcement to make.
- Reverend Lovejoy: Homer, that's not how church works --
- Mr. Plow: Tired of God's punishment that He calls snow. Salvation's in store with Mr. Plow! Just call 1-800-
- Reverend Lovejoy: Step down, Homer. Step down! In every flock, there's always a sheep that baas a little too loudly.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Plow's exclamation mark:
- Marge: Homer! Everyone's talking about what you did at church. How could you use the pulpit for crass, commercial self-promotion? No one has every done that before!
- Mr. Plow: Baby, baby, I got four new customers after that service. How many customers did Jesus every get after he talked in church?
- Marge: Well, I'm pretty sure it was more than four. Although I think they were more followers than customers.
- Mr. Plow: Pfft, followers don't pay you.
- Marge: You're only getting out of this one, Mister, because you're such a beefcake in that jacket.
- Mr. Plow: Mmmm, beefcake.
The player receives "Mr. Plow Pt. 7", which is to "Make Mr. Plow Wear Jacket to Bed". The task takes 12 hours and rewards the player with 600 and 150 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, ending the "Mr. Plow" heptalogy.
Level 25 Gameplay
After tapping on Mr. Burns's exclamation mark:
- Mr. Burns: Bah! I shouldn't keep being assigned menial tasks. I should be the one assigning them! Where are the people to overuse my plant's energy? Where are the lawyers to cheat on my taxes? Where are the Jehovah's Witnesses to feed to my hounds?
- Homer: Yikes, a sad old man! I wish there was some other character I could unlock to take care of this instead of me. Anything I can help with Sir?
- Mr. Burns: What's this? Did one of those Thanksgiving parade balloons come to life?
- Homer: No Sir, I'm your average overweight-sized employee Homer Simpson.
- Mr. Burns: Employee, eh? Then get back to work at the plant, you donut-stuffed, four-toed sloth!
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 1", which is to "Send Homer to do a Plant Shift". The task takes 16 hours and rewards the player with 500 and 125 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Burns's exclamation mark:
- Mr. Burns: What? You've returned unscathed? I had hoped you would lay waste to this infernal town once more and release me from this cholesterol-clogged prison.
- Homer: I can't believe I'm saying this, but why don't you join me at Moe's, Mr. Burns? I find nothing picks up your spirits better than getting blackout drunk.
- Mr. Burns: Socialize with you? Why I'd rather join Obama's drum circle. Which reminds me, I need a place to hide from the coming class war. I know what would be inconspicuous. A giant, fancy house!
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 2", which is to "Build the Burns Manor". Burns Manor cost 226,000 and takes 24 hours to build. Smithers come with Burns Manor.
When the task is completed:
- Mr. Burns: Smithers! Don't think I'm paying you for the time you missed. They're called sick days, not explosion trauma recovery days.
- Smithers: I'm sorry, sir. All this time I have been, ahem, trapped in the closet.
- Mr. Burns: You mean you've been unable to escape my actual wardrobe after the explosion sealed you in there while organizing my sock garters?
- Smithers: That is exactly what I meant.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Smithers's exclamation mark:
- Smithers: Sir, we should make sure the plant is up to code... in case nuclear inspectors become premium characters.
- Mr. Burns: Bah. All the plant needs is a good dusting. Employ a cleaning lady immediately.
- Smithers: Er, Mr. Burns, some might consider the term 'cleaning lady' to be sexist.
- Mr. Burns: Sexist? Me? It's not as if I said 'cleaning wench,' as I had wanted to and said in my head. Besides, everyone knows I'm a fierce supporter of a woman's right to clean.
- Smithers: No worries, sir. People are so desperate for work, I'm sure my inbox is already flooded with applications. Now to go about whistling the 'Sorting & Judging' song.
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 3", which is to "Build the Post Office" and "Make Smithers Check the Mail". The task takes 4 hours and rewards the player with 175 and 45 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Comic Book Guy's exclamation mark:
- Comic Book Guy: Smithers, there you are. I finally tracked down that rare '87 Malibu Stacey where they designed her head upside-down. I assume you still want this priceless, freakish collectible.
- Smithers: Absolutely! It'll complete my set of misshapen dolls along with Torso Face Stacey and Anatomically Correct Tad. Excuse me, while I rub this news in other people's faces, and then do my gloating dance.
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 4", which is to "Make Smithers Write Malibu Stacey News Letter" and "Make Smithers Whip It". The taskes takes 6 hours and 8 hours and rewards the player with total 550 and 125 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Burns's exclamation mark:
- Mr. Burns: Smithers, now that I have you back and everything is running smoothly, I realize I don't need you.
- Smithers: Sir, please -- you just saw my hobbies. I'll go insane if that's all I do.
- Mr. Burns: Now, now, Smithers. Remember, you've already fixed the trap door.
- Smithers: *falling noises*
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 5", which is to "Make Smithers Become a Hideous Drunken Wreck" (2 times). The task takes total 24 hours and rewards the player with total 840 and 200 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Wiggum's exclamation mark:
- Wiggum: Waylon Smithers?
- Smithers: *hick*
- Wiggum: We've been getting reports of someone using the Blue Houses as urinals. Save that behavior for the Brown Houses.
- Smithers: Why was I plucked from oblivion just to be rejected? Only a team of monsters could design this cruel fate!
- Wiggum: Well, I don't really need to use my taser, but I just got the latest model. I've been dying to try it out.
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 6", which is to "Make Smithers Sleep it off in the Drunk Tank". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with 600 and 150 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Mr. Burns's exclamation mark:
- Mr. Burns: Ah, Smithers. You smell like Yale fraternity pledge. You're still going to have to repay me for your bail. At 36% rate of inerest.
- Smithers: Sorry, Sir.
- Mr. Burns: Even though you disgust me, I find myself in need of your services. I seem to have forgotten how to deal with this damnable contraption called 'laces.'
- Quimby: Mr. Burns, as prominent citizen and donor, I would like to offer you aid. Have your Smithers call this number, and these folks will get him back on track. They've been great at curling and covering up the many repeated escapades of my, er-um, nephew.
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 7", which is to "Make Smithers Attend an AA Meeting". The task takes 2 hours and rewards the player with 110 and 27 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Smithers's exclamation mark:
- Smithers: Sir, mat I express my warmest gratitude to be back in your soothing company -
- Mr. Burns: Bah! I have no time for your obsequious rambling. Now is the time for my daily exercise. Can't keep looking so pretty without putting in a little work.
- Smihers: Very good, sir. I'll get right on it.
- Mr. Burns: Excellent! After you've built up your vigor, I'll use that gypsy curse to steal it into my body.
The player receives "Executive Lackey Pt. 8", which is to "Make Smithers Exercise for Mr. Burns". The task takes 60 minutes and rewards the player with 140 and 34 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, completing the "Smithers" quest trilogy.

Gil's offers
"A Sign and Doom" offer
After tapping on Gil's "Hank Scorpio" bubble:
- Gil: Heya Springfield! Are you tried of "the man" telling you what to do?
- Homer: Which man?
- Gil: The man in Washington!
- Homer: Which Washington?
- Gil: Well, now you can stand up to our government by scrawling your city name across a mountain and protecting it with a death ray!
- Homer: Cause there's Washington state and the District of Columbia... which is kind of weird. Isn't Columbia another country?
- Gil: Yeah, that is weird.
Then the player receives the "A Sign and Doom" offer pop-up, which lasted between January 11, 2013-January 13/14, 2013. The offer includes the Volcano Lair, "evil super genius" Hank Scorpio and the Springfield Sign. The pop-up shows Gil saying "Nothing says "I'm in charge" like a giant super laser!", while in the background is a Springfield Sign and a Volcano Lair in a Springfield with a White House and a Blue House. The offer is that the player receives the Volcano Lair and the Springfield Sign for 250 with a 370 value. Once the offer is up, Gil will disappear from your Springfield.
This promotion was supposed to have lasted between January 3, 2013 and January 6, 2013. The offer is called "LairSign" in the game files.
If the player declines the offer:
- Gil: Come on! Don't you want to protect your town from those Columbians?
The tenth content update
The tenth content update was released on January 30, 2013. This was a Valentine's-themed update, and Hearts were its limited time currency.
The update removed the snow, and the snowmen introduced in the previous update's graphics had changed to show them in a 'melted' state. A new 'splash screen' was introduced with the update.
Players can buy a Mystery Love Box for 5, which contain either hearts or themed decorations. Hearts are new currency in the update, and you can buy three buildings with them and 8 decorations.
The update added two of the game's currently most expensive buildings - the Escalator To Nowhere and the Popsicle Stick Skyscraper, costing 1,000,000 and 2,000,000 respectively.
The update introduced the ability to win money at the Kwik-E-Mart by purchasing a Scratch-R. The Scratch-R is currently in-game and Scratch-Rs are able to be bought every 6 hours. The update also installed the ability to send Valentine's cards to friends' towns. Those players who had reached the end of Level 25 got a special notice explaining that until the game rolled out the next level, players saved up XP to reach the next bonus level. At the start of every bonus level, a screen appeared and the player chose one of three 'present' icons to get either 1, 2 or 3. Bonus levels are currently in-game.
The update brought most likely the biggest bug the game had ever seen - the "Harp of Death". The bug caused the game to crash, and upon launch, the game would freeze and continuously play a 'harp' sound. The bug is still around, but since an unofficial solution was announced, numbers of cases have dropped dramatically.
The event ended on February 28, two weeks after Valentine's Day.
The eleventh content update
Some Tapped Out players posted on the game forums that they had received two content updates (technically). The content of the eleventh content update had been downloaded with the content of the tenth.
A user posted on the forums on February 2, 2012 that the price of the "Escalator To Nowhere" had been changed to 500,000 with the update; a user posted on that same thread on February 4, 2013 that at least Milhouse's "Eat at Phineas Q. Butterfat's" task had been cut from 8 hours long to 30 minutes long, also with the update. None of these things actually happened on the update's official release.
The update was released officially on February 14, 2013. On that date, players on the Tapped Out forums reported that "The Science Fund" had appeared in the Store, costing $14.99 or £10.49. "The Science Fund" later became one of Gil's offers.
Gameplay
- This does not include the gameplay of the "This Little Wiggy" storyline.
After the player installs the update, a dialogue box appears:
- Lisa: Happy Valentine's, everyone!
And then a notice appears saying that the player has completed "Happy Valentine's Day" and rewards the player with 5.

- Skinner: So is the school. Build yourself a house. Even Willie has a shack.

After tapped on Comic Book Guy's exclamation mark:
- Comic Book Guy: Little Girl, you have not been replying to my comments on your blog. You would know me as MeisterChef47.
- Lisa: I deduced that. I keep telling you, I don't know any restaurant that serves baby back tauntaun.
- Comic Book Guy: I do not wish to associate myself with sush pretentious garbage. Springfield needs a genuinely inspired restuarant to awaken the insipid palate of this town. I couldn't possibly take a date to any of the ones we have now... which is why I don't date.
- Lisa: Yes, I'm sure that's why.
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 3", which is to "Build El Chemistri Restaurant". El Chemistri cost 214,000 and takes 1 day and 12 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapped on Lisa's exclamation mark:
- Lisa: I'm inviting all the, um, big boned of Springfield to try the forged vegetable jellies at El Chemistri. It's a diet that will, um, make your bones less big.
- Wiggum: I used to worry about not being able to see my shoes, but that's not a problem now that Ralphie's here to tie them. But Ralphie, do you want to try the new restaurant?
- Ralph: Yay! Chemistri sounds like a magician. I want to eat magic food.
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 4", which is to "Make Ralph Eat at El Chemistri Restaurant" and "Make Wiggum Eat at El Chemistri Restaurant. The taskes takes 4 hours and rewards the player with total 250 and 90 when it is set on its own.
When the task is completed:
- Wiggum: Thanks, Lisa. Now Ralphie and I are off to Krustyburger for dessert. And what you have before dessert.
- Lisa: But chief...
- Wiggum: Hey, if I get too thin, people will expect me to actually chase down criminals.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapped on Ralph's exclamation mark:
- Ralph: I like reading your blog, Lisa. Some letters look like giraffes.
- Lisa: Thanks. Everyone wants to talk to me. I finally understand the appeal of being popular!
- Ralph: Yay! Can we play?
- Lisa: Ooo, um, yeah, I'd love to. Just... I'm really busy.
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 5", which is to "Make Lisa Work on her blog". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with 175 and 45 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapped on Brockman's exclamation mark:
- Brockman: Life-threatening weight gain is spreading. Finally, a chance to say "No fatties" on air! Now all I need is a story to put around that.
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 6", which is to "Make Brockman Do An Undercover Report". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with 600 and 150 when it is set on its own.
Once the task is selected:
- Brockman: ...thank you Lisa, the town appreciates that your efforts have taken Springfield from morbidly obese to functionally obese. Tubby Tike, do you have any folksiness to add?
- Ralph: Fire tastes burn-y when I lick it.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapped on Wiggum's exclamation mark:
- Wiggum: I'm sorry, Ralphie, but I can't watch you AND ignore my paperwork. Can't you use the power of imagination to not bother me?
- Ralph: Okay, Daddy. I have a friend who always comes by right after I take a ride in the microwave.
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 7", which is to "Make Ralph Play Wiggle Puppy". The task takes 24 hours and rewards the player with 600 and 150 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapped on Nelson's exclamation mark:
- Nelson: Hi, Chief Wiggum. I was wondering if I can borrow Ralph for a little game of American Patriot Hero.
- Wiggum: Of course. It's good to play with actual people, and not just imaginary characters all the time.
- Nelson: Now, Ralph, I'll be the brave soldier fighting our enemies, and you can be the flag I raise in vicrory. Let's go to the flag pole.
- Ralph: Yay! I get to visit my pigeon pals!
The player receives "This Little Wiggy Pt. 8", which is to "Make Nelso Go to School" and "Make Ralph Go to school". The taskes takes 6 hours and rewards the player with total 450 and 110 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, ending the "This Little Wiggy" heptalogy.
Gil's offers
"The Science Fund" offer
A week after the update was released, another update was released featuring another one of Gil's offers. The offer also came with a new way to get rid of surplus hearts, the Heart Grinder, where the player can "Use Hearts to win money!". For 20, the player can win money from their surplus hearts. Also, this is the first offer to appear on the Android version of the game; the Heart Grinder was not included in the Android offer update, due to the Valentine's update not being released for Android.
After Gil appears in your town and tapping on his "Professor Frink" bubble:
- Gil: Scientists! Get your scientists here!
- Lisa: You can't sell the creation of a scientist! Only graduate schools can do that.
- Professor Frink: Please little girl, I've been trapped alone for so long in a plane of existence that only I understand. I just want to come back and be trapped alone in my laboratory.
Then the offer pops up, with Gil saying "Who wouldn't want an awkward nerd in their town?", with Frink's Lab in a photograph next to him. Also in the offer pop-up is an image of Professor Frink, with a Homer Buddha and an image of a money pile.
The offer contains Frink's Lab, Professor Frink, 50,000 and a Homer Buddha - a 490 value. With the offer, these cost 250.
If the player declines the offer:
- Professor Frink: It's that kind of disinterest in science that's keeping us from going to Mars!
The offer lasted from February 21, 2013 to February 24/25, 2013. Gil disappears from your town when the offer is up.
The twelfth content update
The twelfth content update was released on February 28, 2013, and is an episode tie-in with "Gorgeous Grampa".
The App Store description of the update (version 4.1.3) describes the content added in the last update instead of what is in this update.
The update removed the ability to purchase the Valentine's Day update buildings and decorations. The update also added the ability to purchase a "Golden Scratch-R", which had appeared on the iTunes Tapped Out listing a while back in the list of purchases. A Golden Scratch-R costs 99¢/69p/0,89€ and the jackpot is 100.
If you buy a Scratch-R, it will tell you how many donuts you could have won with what you won in cash. For example, if you got three clubs (winning 750), a little notice would appear below what you had won telling you "You could have won 15 donuts with a Golden Scratch-R". Scratching off three mallets actually wins the player 12 in the Golden Scratch-R, not 15.
Gorgeous Grampa was the first outfit available on Android.
Gameplay
A notice appears reading: "This Sunday's episode of The Simpsons features Grampa as a bad-body wrestling star in the 50s." Then another notice appears, reading: "You'll find his wrestling outfit in your inventory!"
If the player has not built the Retirement Castle, which unlocks Grampa, they will be taken to their inventory. Tapping on "Use" displays a notice which tells the player they need to unlock Grampa before they can use the outfit.
If the player has built the Retirement Castle, they will immediately receive a notice saying they have completed the quest "Gorgeous Grampa", and the player receives 100 and 10
Then the player unlocks Gorgeous Grampa, and receives 25 for doing so.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: Hey dad, I didn't know you were a cross-dresser.
- Gorgeous Grampa: I'm not, you idjit! It's my old wrestling outfit.
- Homer: You? A wrestler? Your whole body looks prolapsed.
- Gorgeous Grampa: I used to be oh-so-beefy & beautiful! I could stare at myself for hours!
Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 1", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Admire Himself". The task takes 4 hours and rewards the player with 175 and 45 when the task is completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on his exclamation mark:
- Gorgeous Grampa: I was the 'Glamorous Godfrey' and I was the original bad boy of the squared circle.
- Bart: Grampa, really? You were a bad boy? I always thought you were lame.
- Gorgeous Grampa: Ha! I was boastful before your rap musickers and TV beach Italians of today.
- Bart: Awesome, can you come to my show and tell?
Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 2", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Go to Show and Tell". The task takes 8 hours and rewards the player with 275 and 70 when the task is completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on his exclamation mark:
- Bart: Grampa, all my friends thought you were weird!
- Gorgeous Grampa: That's the problem with kids today - they don't know how to prance and preen!
Then the player receives "Gorgeous Grampa Pt. 3", which is to "Make Gorgeous Grampa Prance and Preen". The task takes 12 hours and rewards the player with 420 and 100 when the task completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, completing the "Gorgeous Grampa" quest trilogy.

The thirteenth content update
The thirteenth content update was released on March 7, 2013 and was a St. Patrick's Day update. Unlike other themed events, this event had no limited time currency.
The update introduced Tom O'Flanagan and his pub to the game, as well as another themed character, the Leprechaun.
With the update came a new task for Lisa to "Meditate" for 30 minutes at the Springfield Buddhist Temple, however it was greyed out - because this building would not be unlocked until the content update after the one following. The thirteenth content update was released on March 7, 2013 and was a St. Patrick's Day update. The update comes with two new characters, one building and two decorations, one a premium decoration, one only obtainable after completing the event storyline.
Gameplay
Once installing the update:
- Homer: Woohoo! St. Patrick's Day is coming! The day we all pub crawl to celebrate St. Patrick and whatever he was or did. Too bad you can't pub crawl in a town with only one pub.
- Lisa: Didn't you and Grampa buy a pub when we went to Ireland?
- Homer: I miss that place. Sometimes I wish you could just press a button and build the buildings you wish were built.
Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 1", which is to "Build O'Flanagan's Pub". The building costs 1,900, and takes 24 hours to build. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
Then the player unlocks Tom O'Flanagan and receives 25 for doing so.
After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:
- Tom O'Flanagan: This don't look like Ireland. Where are the Bonos? Where are The Edges?
- Homer: Tom O'Flanagan! Welcome to America!
- Tom O'Flanagan: America, is it? Well, one debt-ridden, overly-religious craphole's as good as the next, I s'pose.
The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 2", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Clean Beer Mugs". The task takes 8 hours and the task rewards the player with 275 and 70 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: O'Flanagan's Pub is open for business!
- Tom O'Flanagan: Hold on, laddy. Runnin' a pub is no picnic! It's hard work -- work that takes arbitrary lengths of time to complete!
- Homer: I'm a guy who needs six hours to lounge in a pool but only six SECONDS to clean up nuclear waste. I know arbitrary, okay?
- Tom O'Flanagan: And there's other tasks that might seem, well, a wee bit pointless. Like they don't necessarily aid in running a business...
The player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 3", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Do an Irish Jig" and "Make Homer Promote his Bar". Both Tom O'Flanagan's task and Homer's task take 12 hours and both tasks reward the player with 420 and 100 when each completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
Then the player receives the following dialogue following the completion of Part 3.
- Cletus: Saw me a little green fella this morning - and not a drop of moonshine the night before.
- Lisa: That must be a leprechaun! According to Irish folklore, they're miniature old men who frequently have pots of gold.
- Homer: By *gold* do you mean grind currency or donuts?
- Lisa: Neither, I jut mean gold.
- Homer: But that's worth nothing in our world!
- Lisa: Still, it would be nice to have a Leprechaun in our town. We should build a wishing well to entice one!
- Leprechaun: Premium character, am I? Ain't that a fine thing?
The Leprechaun is a premium character that is unlocked following the purchase of the 150 Wishing Well.
After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:
- Tom O'Flanagan: I only hope Americans have as a unhealthy a relationship with alcohol as my countrymen.
The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 4", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Serve Drinks" and to "Send [12] Springfield Residents to Drink at O'Flanagans". The characters that have "Drink at O'Flanagan's" tasks are Homer, Apu, Ned, Cletus, Skinner, Willie, Comic Book Guy, Grampa, Mrs. Krabappel and Barney - which adds up to 10 (9, if you don't have Barney). This means that the player will need to send either two or three characters to "Drink at O'Flanagans" twice. The reason for, if the player has Barney, why the quest requires two more characters to complete the task, is most probably because Lenny and Carl, characters to be unlocked in a future content update, may have been included in the number accidentally, similar to how Lisa's "Meditate" task was added accidentally. All of the tasks are 4 hours long and each task rewards the player with 175 and 45 when completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:
- Tom O'Flanagan: That was a fine craic! Time to rest my heels.
The player then receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 5", which is to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Watch Old Horse Races". The task takes 60 minutes and the task rewards the player with 70 and 17 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: I'd love to get the gang together for another boozefest. We always black out and have some presumably great times.
- Tom O'Flanagan: What's stopping ya?
- Homer: Marge says you can only do fun stuff in moderation for some stupid reason.
- Tom O'Flanagan: We had moderation in Ireland. Then the economy went belly-up, and we gave self-destruction a try. Best move we ever made.
Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 6". The quest is the same as "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 4", to "Make Tom O'Flanagan Serve Drinks" and to "Send [12] Springfield Residents to Drink at O'Flanagan's". Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: Hey Willie, bet you're proud to have your very own Irish bar in Springfield?
- Willie: I'm not Irish, I'm Scottish! We're totally different kinds of English-haters!
- Homer: You both talk funny. That's pretty strong evidence you're the same people.
- Willie: Now I'm lookin' for a fight.
Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 7", which is to "Reach Level 10 and Build Willie's Shack" and to "Send Willie to Drink at O'Flanagan's". The task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with 175 and 45 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Tom O'Flanagan's exclamation mark:
- Tom O'Flanagan: Lookin' for a fight, Scot?
- Willie: Kind of you to notice, Irish.
- Homer: Guys, guys! You're Americans now! Here, the Scottish and Irish put aside their differences. And unite with all Americans of European descent in looking down on OTHER immigrant groups. Whose only crime is arriving here a few years later than we did. Which is the worst crime ever.
- Willie: *Sniff* That's beautiful...
- Tom O'Flanagan: Give us a hug, Willie!
Then the player receives "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 8", which is to "Send Willie to Drink at O'Flanagan's". The task takes 4 hours and the task rewards the player with 175 and 45 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: Oohhh, my head! I never thought I'd say this, but this holiday involves too much drinking.
- Tom O'Flanagan: Homer, to thank you for uniting us Gaels, Willie and I created a special gift for you... using his groundskeeping abilities and my Irishness!
- Willie: We've put it in your storage.
- Homer: Please. Not so loud, guys.
Then the player receives the final "St. Paddy's Day" quest, "St. Paddy's Day Pt. 9", which is to "Place the Shamrock Topiary". Once tapping "Do it", the player is taken to the inventory, where the Shamrock Topiary is. The Shamrock Topiary is a decoration only available through finishing this quest line. The decoration improves the player's Vanity rating. Upon completing the quest, and placing the Shamrock Topiary, the player receives 100 and 10, ending the "St. Paddy's Day" quest ennealogy.
St. Patrick's Day message
On March 17, 2013, when the player logged into the game, they received:
- Homer: Happy St. Patrick's Day! *Hick*
Then the player completes "Happy St. Patrick's Day!", and in reward for doing so, the player receives 5 and 10.

- Comic Book Guy: Not yet. But I'm sure Bongo will throw something together soon.
- Fruit-Bat-Man: They must never know my true identity! (TENTING FINGERS) Excellent.
Then another notice appears, saying "Find the superhero's signal in your inventory."
At this time, the Fruit-Bat-Signal is in the player's inventory.

After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: Cool outfit, Mr. Burns. Bit early for Halloween though, isn't it?
- Fruit-Bat-Man: What, you recognized me?! Now I must give you a lashing to insure you never tell another soul my true identity!
- Homer: You're gonna release the hounds on me?
- Fruit-Bat-Man: No, I'm going to do it myself. I have to break in my fighting gear anyway.
Then the player receives "Fruit-Bat-Man Pt. 3", which is to "Make Fruit-Bat-Man Practice Punching Out a Crook". The task takes 12 hours and the task rewards the player with 600 and 150 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10
After tapping on Fruit-Bat-Man's exclamation mark:

The task takes 24 hours and the task rewards the player with 1,000 and 225 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, bringing the "Fruit-Bat-Man" quest-line to its conclusion.
The fifteenth content update
The fifteenth content update was released on March 21, 2013.
In the thirteenth content update, a task for Lisa to "Meditate" for 30 minutes at the Springfield Buddhist Temple appeared, locked, in Lisa's task list. The task was removed with the next update, before being released officially with this update.
The content of the update was known a few weeks before its release; on March 7, 2013, both the TSTO Player forum and the official EA Tapped Out forum posted a list of new characters and buildings set to be introduced with a Level 27 content update.
The update also changed the length of Tom O'Flanagan's, introduced in the St. Patrick's Day update, "Visit the Track" task from 3 hours to 24 hours.
The description of the Mystery Box was also changed to "A prize in every box with a chance to win premium items!"
Many players posted on the Tapped Out forum that with the update the XP goal had been reduced to a mere 9,000 and caused the XP bar to freeze. According to the TSTO Tips blog, if the player buys between 10-40 weather stations the XP bar should start moving again.

- Note: Mount Carlmore is classed in-game as a decoration, despite being classed as a building on this wiki. Since no other decorations were added with the update, we have decided to merge the two sections.

Level 27 Gameplay
After tapping Rev. Lovejoy's exclamation mark:
- Rev. Lovejoy: Ah, Lisa Simpson! You wanted to speak to me about a apiritual crisis. Perhaps you've come to hear a humble 'I told you so'.
- Lisa: Actually I'm trying to find meaning in this world of daily drudgery.
- Rev. Lovejoy: All you need to do is trust in the wisdom of the Almighty Finger. I mean, God.
- Lisa: Actually, Springfield exploded and then returned. I've been thinking this might be proof of the Buddhist concept of Samsara -
- Rev. Lovejoy: Oh Lord. Is this another conversation where you try to convince me Buddha was just a chubby Jesus?
The player receives "Buddha's Got Back Pt. 1", which is to "Build Springfield Buddhist Temple". Springfield Buddhist Temple cost 222,500 and takes 24 hours to build. Lenny and Carl come with Springfield Buddhist Temple. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping Lenny's exclamation mark:
- Lenny: Wow, we suffered a fiery nuclear death and now we're reborn! I guess the Buddhist theory of reincarnation is right.
- Carl: Yeah. And we came back as ourselves. Boy, we must've really screwed up the last time.
- Lenny: But we did everthing right. Gave to the poor. Helped old ladies cross the street. Made sure our magazines were, at the minimun, barely legal. I was hoping to at least be reincarnated as you.
- Carl: I don't understand it either. We need to go someplace where we can contemplate the mysteries of our existence.
The player receives "Buddha's Got Back Pt. 2", which is to "Make Lenny Drink at Moe's" and "Make Carl Drik at Moe's". The taskes takes 8 hours and rewards the player with total 550 and 140 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping Lisa's exclamation mark:
- Lisa: Now that the Buddhist Temple is back, I can continue on my quest toward spiritual enlightenment.
- Marge: Oh honey, can't you just go to normal church with the rest of us? I don't want us to all end up in different heavens.
- Homer: Eh, let her go, Marge. The boy's not going to be there anyway -- it'll be nice for you and me to have some alone time.
- Lisa: Thanks Dad... I guess.
The player receives "Little Miss Mantra", which is to "Make Lisa Meditate". The task takes 30 minutes and rewards the player with 40 and 10 when it is set on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping Moe's exclamation mark:
- Moe: It's great to have my closest friends back. Now, settle your tab before I stab out your lungs.
- Lenny: But Moe, all our money burned up in the explosions.
- Moe: So did my bar tabs... but I still expect you to pay them!
- Homer: If you need money, you guys should get your old jobs back at the plant. Then you can cover for me when I'm never there.
The player receives "Buddha's Got Back Pt. 3", which is to "Send Lenny to do a Plant Shift" and "Send Carl to do a Plant Shift". The taskes takes 16 hours and rewards the player with total 1,000 and 250 when it is set on its own.
Once the task is selected:
- Smithers: Thank you both for reporting to work. Unfortunately, with so few people in this town, and my recent raise, we only have enough money to pay one of you.
- Lenny: Only one? Well, then I say give the job to Carl.
- Carl: I say give the job to me as well.
- Lenny: Hey! I thought you were going to do that thing where you say no, give him the job, and then we argue over something good.
- Carl: Nope. Did that thing where I just take it.
Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping Lenny's exclamation mark:

After tapping Lenny's exclamation mark:
- Lenny: One paragraph down. Seven-thousand, six-hundred, and forty-two more to go. Writing always puts me in the mood to grab a beer and not write. Whaddaya say we got to Moe's, Carl? ... Oh, right -- Carl and Moe's are both out of my life. Well, I can't just sit around feeling sorry for myself. I'm going to WALK and feel sorry for myself.

- Wiggum: There sure is. For starters, it is illegal to kick a can in the town of Sprinfield.
- Lenny: But that law is outdated. It was in Season 16!
- Wiggum: Also, you jay-walked back there, you don't have a license fpr those suspenders, and you just talked back to a police officer. Strike four!
The player receives "Lenny's Downfall Pt. 3", which is to "Make Lenny Go in for Questioning". The task takes 8 Hours and rewards the player with 275 and 70 when it is set on its own.

Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping Quimby's exclamation mark:

- Mr. Burns: Then we'll have to promote the other one.
- Carl: Thank you, Mr. Burns. But I've reached the phase of Buddhist enlightenment where I feel no attachment to material wealth.
- Mr. Burns: I'm willing to give you a sixty-percent raise and a four month salary signing bonus.

- Mr. Burns: In my heart? Ho-ha, what a delightful jape!
- Carl: Please sir. Couldn't you just pay me less, and use the money you sve to hire Lenny?
- Mr. Burns: But if I paid you less, then you wouldn't be making more money than you deserve... which means you could no longer be an executive.
- Carl: Then I guess I'll just go back to my old job.
- Mr. Burns: Very well, Your compassion has taught me something... why I am luducrously rich and you are middle class. You and your friend can have your menial, nuclear energy jobs. Now let your dainty sentiments never poison my ears again.

The sixteenth content update
The sixteenth content update was released on April 8, 2013 and is an episode tie-in with "What Animated Women Want".
On April 8, 2013, a user reported that Swanky Fish and Springfield Falls had disappeared from their game, along with the player's 90. Many users also reported this, as well as other cases where only one of the two had disappeared. The user that originally reported the glitch later provided a solution, which was to re-install the game twice.
Gameplay
After installing the update: Notice: "This Sunday's episode of The Simpsons on FOX features a swanky new sushi restaurant."
- Homer: Ooh, sushi! I'm always up for eating new and exotic types of freshly-killed animals.
- Lisa: I bet they have vegetarian dishes too, like seaweed salad and steamed tofu...
- Homer: Stop it, Lisa -- you're making me lose my appetite for sushi! Why don't you go to the Kwik-E-mart and get me some raw fish to eat until it comes back?
- Milhouse: Wait, don't episode tie-in updates usually come out on a Thursday?
- Notice: "They do, but we've got something even BIGGER coming this Thursday. (Shh, don't tell anyone.)"
- Milhouse: Hey Bart! Guess what?
The player receives "Stanky Fish Pt. 1", which is to "Make Lisa Shop at the Kwik-E-Mart". The task takes 60 minutes and the task rewards the player with 70 and 17 when completed on its own.
When Lisa finishes the task:
- Homer: If the fish at that restaurant is anywhere as good as this jumbo frozen fish head that expired two years ago, I'm going to be very happy! ...after I'm done being very sick.
Then the player completes "Stanky Fish Pt. 1", and receives the reward of 100 and 10.
After tapping on Homer's exclamation mark:
- Homer: I heard that new sushi restaurant serves fish with two eyes... which is weird because the only fish I ever see around here have three.
- Lisa: That's because the water in Springfield is stagnant and polluted. What we need is a waterfall! It would aerate the water, creating the environment the fish need to get healthier!
- Homer: Pass.
- Lisa: And tastier.
- Homer: I mean, let's do it!
Then the player receives "Stanky Fish Pt. 2", which is to "Place Springfield Falls". Springfield Falls is in the player's inventory and improves the player's Vanity rating. Upon doing so:
- Homer: That's the lamest waterfall I've ever seen.
Then the player completes "Stanky Fish Pt. 2", and receives the reward of 100 and 10.

Swanky Fish
Upon building Swanky Fish and after tapping on Lisa's exclamation mark:
- Lisa: Wow, the ornate interior and new age looking exterior of Swanky Fish is impressive!
- Homer: But I thought this was a seafood place. What's with all this rice, avocado, and... yuck! Is this seaweed?!
- Lisa: It's called Nori wrap. Sushi really is an art form.
- Homer: But I don't want my food to be an art form. I want it to be food.
- Lisa: Can't we at least try it once?
- Homer: Okay, but I get to choose the restaurant the next ten times.
Then the player receives "Swanky Fish Pt. 1", which is to "Make Homer Dine at the Swanky Fish" and to "Make Lisa Dine at the Swanky Fish". Both tasks take 5 hours and both tasks reward the player with 300 and 75 each when completed on their own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10.
After tapping on Skinner's exclamation mark:
- Skinner: I haven't had sushi since my days in Nam... when I fled to Japan to avoid the fighting.
Then the player receives "Swanky Fish Pt. 2", which is to "Make Skinner Dine at the Swanky Fish". The task takes 5 hours and the task rewards the player with 300 and 75 when completed on its own.
Upon the completion of the task:
- Skinner: Ahh, I love the smell of wasabi in the morning!
Then the player completes "Swanky Fish Pt. 2", and receives a reward of 100 and 10.
After tapping on Comic Book Guy's exclamation mark:
- Comic Book Guy: A new sushi restaurant? Well, I don't have a Japanese girlfriend yet -- SPOILER ALERT! -- but I may as well prime my palate.
Then the player receives "Swanky Fish Pt. 3", which is to "Make Comic Book Guy Dine at the Swanky Fish". The task takes 5 hours and the task rewards the player with 300 and 75 when completed on its own.
Upon the completion of the task:
- Comic Book Guy: How come all of my jobs involve eating?
Then the player completes "Swanky Fish Pt. 3", and receives a reward of 100 and 10.
After tapping on Kent Brockman's exclamation mark:
- Kent Brockman: I'm here at Springfield's latest answer to pretentious finger food: Swanky Fish. Check it out today! ...and cut! Okay, there's your plug. Now comp my meal.
Then the player receives "Swanky Fish Pt. 4", which is to "Make Kent Brockman Dine at the Swanky Fish". The task takes 5 hours and the task rewards the player with 300 and 75 when completed on its own. Upon completing the quest, the player receives 100 and 10, ending the "Swanky Fish" quest-line.

The seventeenth content update
The seventeenth content update was released on April 10, 2013 and is the long-awaited Whacking Day update. The event's limited time currency is snakes. The update bought several new features to the game. This update on Google Play also came with Origin for Android players. The update comes with a new splash screen and a new icon.
This is the first update to offer prizes, and the second requiring the player to tap on a non-playable character to kill them - the first was zombies during the Halloween Update in 2012. For the player to acquire prizes, they must whack up to a certain amount of snakes. The first prize is Fort Sensible, a building, and to acquire it, the player must whack 150.
The update's limited time currency is snakes. In a way, snakes are not a currency in the update as they are not used to physically purchase things in the store.
A message popped up on April 23rd, and gave the player 12 free Donuts.
The update will not end on May 2, 2013 as originally thought, but a week later on May 9, 2013.
The eighteenth content update
The eighteenth content update was released on April 19, 2013. The update made Fat Tony available to players who missed out on the opportunity to acquire him during an episode promotion in November 2012. Three buildings were introduced, as well as Legs and Louie, and the premium character, the Rich Texan. The hot tub was added as a decoration.
The nineteenth content update
The nineteenth content update was released on May 2, 2013. The update made Respectable Moe available to players as a limited costume. The limo was added as a limited decoration.
Upcoming content updates
- Note: The following information may be a mixture of rumors and fact.
On February 27, 2013, a user on the Tapped Out forums posted black-and-white images of two characters, a building and decorations to be introduced in future updates; the images being found in the game files.
Earlier, on February 25, 2013, a user on the TSTO Player forum (http://tstappedout.proboards.com) posted black-and-white images of three decorations and a character. The decorations, however, had snow on them in the images so it is likely these decorations were supposed to be introduced in either the Christmas Update or the Level 25 Update. (These are noted by a "*") The character image featured what would appear to be an 'unlock' image of Gil, indicating that he will be implemented into the game sometime in the future.
On March 22, 2013, two users on the TSTO Player forum posted a lot of info about new items, new episode tie-ins and new items to be added in the Whacking Day update. (These are marked with a "-")
On March 23, 2013, one of the users posted a list of "Miss Springfield" quests and more decorations and buildings. (These are all marked with a "=")
On April 19, 2013, a user on the TSTO Player forums posted information on a 'Squidport' update. (These are marked with a "!") this update will most likely come out when whacking day is over

Memorabilia (-)
The user that posted the information said that there may be "Mini Games" added to the game that could be included for each building. The user said the coding works like the Homer's Buddha/Mystery Box/Leprechaun Tap; a Random # is generated, then used to determine the prize gained. The odds of winning a prize from a building are 66%, with odds of each listed item being:
- 1st Item Listed: 5%
- 2nd Item: 10%
- 3rd Item: 14%
- 4th Item: 17%
- 5th Item: 20%
which equals 66% total odds. The other 33% of the time does not result in a prize. Each item has a cost of 1 assigned to it, presumably the cost of playing the 'mini game'
The items listed for each building are:
- Simpsons House: Krusty Doll, Boat picture, Slingshot, Lisa's Sax, Ned's Lawn Mower

Dialogue updates
60 Free Donuts
During June 2012, EA took the game offline to fix the Springfields affected. Because some towns had been reset to a certain level and their design changed, those players were given 60 for the inconvenience.
Black Friday Eve
On November 22, 2012, players got a message from Homer: "Happy Black Friday Eve!". A few players on the EA Tapped Out forums reported that they got donuts after dismissing the message and another player reported that their friend got 1,000. However, these reports might well be coincidental, like a daily bonus mistaken for a special bonus.
Whacking Day
On April 23 2013 if you login into your town, you received 12 free Donuts
