- The episode title is a reference to the film Hannah and Her Sisters, which also stars Julie Kavner.
- Cavity Falls Children's Dentistry is a reference to the animated television series Gravity Falls.
- Knead for Swede Massage Parlor is a reference to the Need for Speed racing game series.
- In the damaged soviet submarine escape room:
- Selma mentions they escaped every unlicensed Hogwarts from Harry Potter in the country.
- The Squeaky-voiced teen says do svidaniya ("goodbye" in Russian) when leaving the room. Signs inside the room such as перископ, радио and торпеда are also Russian words for "periscope", "radio", and "torpedo", respectively.
- Selma calls Homer a "Crisco-chugging pistachio brain", referencing Crisco, the American brand of shortening.
