- The episode title is a reference to the Christmas carol "O Come, All Ye Faithful".
- An instrumental version of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams plays during the opening for A Derren Brown Christmas
- During the opening for A Derren Brown Christmas, a picture of Mr. Burns and the hounds confronting the spirits from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is seen.
- Derren Brown mentions self-financed JLO movies, referring to Jennifer Lopez.
- Derren refers to the town being grumpy and Scrooge-like.
- Hello Kitty pencils are seen for sale.
- When Homer starts to think he's Santa Claus, he says "I see them when they're sleeping." Derren Brown then says "well, more so when they're awake," followed by Homer saying "I know when they're awake." referencing the Christmas song "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" by John Frederick Coots and Haven Gillespie.
- Homer quotes "A Visit from St. Nicholas" when he says "Happy Christmas to all and to all a good night!"
- Homer refers to other people as Muggles, a reference to Harry Potter.
- Mr. Burns' heart growing three sizes, and the facial expression he makes, are a reference to How the Grinch Stole Christmas! by Dr. Seuss.

- Homer's favorite cookies are chocolate chips with N&N's, a parody of M&M's.
- "World Famous Santa Claus" and "Local Springfield Santa Claus" are performed by Pentatonix, in a parody of "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen". Pentatonix did a cover of the song for their album A Pentatonix Christmas. Their cover was also used in the 2018 The Grinch film.
- The pictures of Homer and Ralph on the cooling towers are a reference to the Barack Obama "Hope" poster by Shepard Fairey.
- Derren refers to himself as the Beyoncé of British mentalists.
- Sideshow Mel has a subscription to BritBox.
- When Derren Brown suggests putting some upbeat music over a scene, the editor suggests "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt. Brown then asks for something public domain, like "Greensleeves" or "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". Both those songs then play over the next scene.
- Bart talks about when everybody at school dances to that Charlie Brown song, then it cuts to the kids dancing to it at school. The song is "Christmas Is Coming" which was featured in A Charlie Brown Christmas.
- Lisa says that the Little Drummer Boy didn't have money, a reference to the Christmas song "The Little Drummer Boy".
- Todd asks "what if you die before you wake?", a reference to the Lord's Prayer.
- One of the hymn sheet music that Rod and Todd got for Christmas is "There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood" by Vestal Goodman.
- On the cover of the Costington's Toy Guide are Lego versions of Yoda and Darth Maul from Star Wars.
