Cultural references[edit]
- The old TV Guides include covers with: Law & Order, The Flying Nun, Superman, Frasier, Gary Coleman, Wonder Woman, The Price is Right, ALF, Farrah Fawcett, Richard Nixon, Lost in Space, Batman, M*A*S*H, and Arthur Fonzarelli from Happy Days. There was also a copy with Fred Flintstone from The Flintstones on the cover.
- Homer claims to have kept the TV Guides for the crossword puzzles. The only clue he had filled out in one was "The Brady (Blank)", referencing The Brady Bunch.
- Homer has a beer can sculpture called "Duff the Magic Dragon", a reference to the song "Puff, the Magic Dragon" by Peter, Paul and Mary.
- Snake's parole officer reads about the show Misfits of Science in a TV Guide.
- Krusty placed a bid on the TV Guides because they had cover stories of Cloris Leachman in them, and her restraining order against him didn't mean he had to stay away from her pictures.
- Luigi's brother is Mario Risotto and resembles Mario from the Mario series. Luigi exclaims "It's-a me!" when he wins the games on eBuy and tells Mario to hold his mushrooms.
- When Homer is acting smart because he was told it was Opposite Day, he teaches kids from Saved by the Bell. The characters are Zack Morris, Samuel "Screech" Powers, and Jessie Spano.
- Artie Ziff ratted out Rich Uncle Pennybags, the mascot of Monopoly, to the police for corporate crimes.
- Other corporate CEOs that paid Artie off include Bill Gates and The Burger King, the mascot of Burger King.
- Artie Ziff had Jimmy Carter build him a house as part of Habitat for Humanity.
- The fake actor playing Moe is Rich Hall.
- The show Duel or No Duel is a parody of Deal or No Deal.
- Homer is asked who Marge's favorite member of The Beatles is. He answers with "Pete Best".
- Homer says that Bart's favorite superhero is "The Elongated Ham", a reference to Elongated Man from DC Comics.

- Lisa tells Artie Ziff that the last time they saw him, he was thrown in jail for corporate crimes. ("The Ziff Who Came to Dinner")
- Garth Motherloving is one of the corporate CEOs who paid Artie Ziff off. ("Sweets and Sour Marge")
- Artie says that Lisa's favorite album is Sax on the Beach by Bleeding Gums Murphy. ("'Round Springfield")

- Zack from Saved by the Bell has his name misspelled as "Zach".
