- The episode title is a reference to The Smiths 1985 studio album of the same name.
- The episode is a parody of the TV series Succession.
- The Redfield family are parodies of characters from the show. Gus is a parody of Logan Roy, Colby is a parody of Connor Roy, Mav is a parody of Roman Roy, and Sheila is a parody of Siobhan "Shiv" Roy. Jessica is a parody of Gerri Kellman. Cousin Greg from Succession is also in the episode, played by Nicholas Braun, who played him in Succession.
- Dick Gregory, George Carlin, Albert Brooks and Richard Pryor were in the line up at The Village Turtleneck.
- Krusty presents a Superman bowling ball, calling it the Super Bowl.

- Krusty being declined more money for his act and deciding to open a Krusty Burger across the street, which leads to Gus and Abe to going out of business parallels how Ray Kroc of McDonald's responded to not being able to get the original "Big M" location by opening a franchise near it that forced the McDonald Brothers out of business.
