Synopsis[edit]

"When all the fast food restaurants in Springfield become healthy, Homer turns to the last bastion of greasy food for comfort – and digs up some childhood memories along the way. Meanwhile, Lisa must find a good news story when the future of her school radio station is in jeopardy."

Plot[edit]

After setting out a domino all over the Power Plant and activating it, endangering the core in the process with a imminent meltdown, Homer wins a challenge by Mr. Burns, giving all employees the rest of the day off but it's revealed its just a plan to hide some bodies in Christmas decoration boxes, including Smilin' Joe Fission's.

Homer wants to celebrate, and comes home only to find Patty and Selma at home, ruining his perfect day, ready to take the whole family to the 38th annual DMV Awards at Aztec Theater. After escaping from the boring ceremony, he goes to Krusty Burger, but finds out their corporate parent from Japan changed all of the food to Japanese food. After praying to God, Homer finds himself at Deuce's Caboose Chili Dogs, and eats hot dogs till morning. Coming back home, he tells the family about where he went and Grampa tells the story of how Homer went there with him and Grandma Mona every week in his childhood, but Homer says he haven't gone back there for 30 years.

Having spent too much on the Awards show, Patty and Selma settle themselves at home. To relieve himself from the stress of the news he comes back to the caboose and eats some more hot dogs, asking the owner if he remembers him, but he doesn't. Meanwhile, in Willie's shack, Martin, Milhouse, Database, Janey, Lisa and Wendell have a reunion for their local radio, WSES Radio, about being beaten by Jimbo, Kearney and Dolph's broadcast. The meeting is cut short by Willie having to use the shack, while Homer escapes the Power Plant and goes to the caboose to eat more, and finds Krusty too, depressed about people not eating at his place anymore.

Back at the school, while Lisa was interviewing Nelson, Skinner informs her that the funding for her radio station were cut. After Lisa's disappointment, Homer has one too when, bringing Lisa with him to cheer her up, he finds out that the caboose is closed and sold permanently to new owners, Krusty. Homer can't stand this and steals the caboose with his car, followed by the police, but is helped by them communicating with other greasy food lovers, that help him once the car finishes the fuel. At the end, after crashing the barrier made by Lindsey Naegle and Krusty, the caboose goes over the bridge and Homer is in danger until the owner saves him, telling Homer he remembers.

The episode was originally WABF03, but then was moved to WABF07 and WABF03 became "The Last Traction Hero".[1]
