Cultural references

  • The title of the episode is a pun to the term "Squad Goals".
  • The song during the caddying montage is "C.R.E.A.M." ("Cash Rules Everything Around Me") by Wu-Tang Clan.
  • Phineas Q. Butterfat's Ice Cream Parlor's workers sing "Tip's in the Jar", a parody of "Carol of the Bells".
  • Marge uses "S.J.W.s" as abbreviation for the "Springfield Junipers Wealthy", unknowingly using the common abbreviation for the Social justice warriors. Afterwards, Lisa shows her the other petitions against S.J.W.s created.
  • Bart tells Bildorf he mistook him for Pierce Brosnan.
  • The song sung by the First Church of the Blessed Mulligan chorus and during the credits is a parody of "I'm Alright" by Kenny Loggins.
  • The saint the Italian woman is praying to is former golfer Greg Norman.
  • The AVT slobs vs. the snobs ending is a reference to the movie Caddyshack.
  • "You're going to The Show" is a baseball expression meaning you've made it to the Major Leagues.
  • Lisa's pester.org petitions include "Let Eight-Year-Olds Join The Peace Corps" and "Cast Millie Bobby Brown In Everything."
  • Marge's pester.org petition:
    • "Do you think it's fair that some private golf clubs pay less on their property taxes than the rest of us? I sure don't! I only found out because Ralph Wiggum's imaginary friend, Mr. Rum-ta-Tum, showed him what was behind the Big Hedge. This isn't the first time Mr. Rum-ta-Tum has drawn our attention to wasteful municipal fiscal policy. Last year, this teddy bear drum major (who floats several feet above the ground) led Ralph and a pretend marching band of one hundred high-stepping trumpeters on a merry parade to Springfield Industrial Park. It was later discovered that the Park's construction contract was awarded through a non-competitive, rigged bid. Thank you, Mr. Rum-ta-Tum!"
