- The title is a play on Billy Wilder's 1955 comedy The Seven Year Itch.
- The title is also a reference to the season 16 episode "The Seven-Beer Snitch".
- The Brexiting Swan is a reference to Brexit.
- Wankers Shortbread is a reference to Walkers Shortbread.
- When Willie throws his guitar into the fire, it plays "God Save the Queen".
- The Globe Theatre is playing Macbeth.
- Willie mentions The Beatles.
- Lily visits Leonardo DiCaprio at his house, and mentions the CGI bear from the 2015 movie The Revenant, where Leonardo fought one.
- Lily sings "Drink It Up Men" by The Dubliners.
- "Halleluja" plays at Moe's Tavern.
- When the Simpsons get to Martha's Vineyard, "Anticipation" by Carly Simon plays.

- Lily tells Mr. Burns that he makes her feel like she's on a date with a James Bond villain. Burns then holds a white cat on his lap and pets it, echoing one of Ernst Stavro Blofeld's mannerisms.

- This episode was originally to be the season finale of Season 31, but was moved to Season 32 for unknown reasons. "The Way of the Dog" aired instead.
- In a recurring joke about Springfield's location being a mystery, the dart that Lily throws to decide where to go in the USA is caught by a gust of wind, misses the map completely, and ends up hitting a flyer advertising Springfield as "America's Least Romantic City".
- The agreement form Marge holds up has ZABF15, the episode's production code, written on it.
- A picture of The Tracey Ullman Show version of the family is on Homer's phone.
- Homer breaks the fourth wall by raising and lowering the size of his window in the call's split screen.
