The Level 44 content update for The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a content update that was released on September 5, 2014.

On Facebook on September 5, 2014 a string of numbers, 4461746162617365, was posted along with a teaser:

A hacker's on the loose in Springfield and not even your deepest, darkest thoughts are safe. Especially that one you're thinking right now. And seriously, that's disgusting. Stay tuned for Level 44 and a new update to find out what this hacker wants!

It was found that the numbers, when translated from Hexadecimal to ASCII, resulted in the word "Database"^[1], implying the character Database would be implemented.^[2]

Two new Friendship Points levels were also implemented in this update.

This Springfield is a crummy imitation of the old one, and everyone named Homer knows it! Why it's missing this town's most famous landmark -- Honest John's Computers! Are you guys talking about Honest John's Computers? Man, I miss that place. Sure, Honest John's was the beating heart of this ‘burg. No one's disputing that. I always loved how it looks like an auto-body shop, even though they sold ‘puters. But I don't need to describe what Honest John's looks like. It's an image we all treasure. Truly, I would rather be mayor of North Korea than run a Springfield without Honest John's. Then let's just rebuild it in the town we have. As a Japanese person who does many Japanese-y things, I know much about bonsai. My country created the practice to take our minds off tentacle pornography. Actually, bonsai originated in China, where it is called penjing or penzai. As early as the 6th century, diplomats took samples back to Japan and replanted the art form there. Between you and me, Springfield has been looking awfully yellow lately. Is that comment…because I'm Asian? WHUUUUT?! NO! No, I love races! And colors! In fact, rainbow is my favorite sherbet flavor. How could the color yellow apply to Asians? You're more pale than we are. Bart! You're not helping. Even though I possess an awareness of racist ideas like “yellowface” and “yellow peril”, when I look at my hands, I have to admit the boy is right. Hey, you can't use those terms! They're only for fellow yellows to use with each other! Mr. Homer, I have acted dishonorably and brought shame to my ancestors, two ways of feeling that pop culture says are appropriately Japanese-y. Well, the culinary scene has gotten more adventurous since you've been gone. Many Springfields already have a sushi establishment, Swanky Fish. And their health department grade is an A, I say with an accusing ‘ahem.' So I have competition now? They may have superior sushi. But do they also serve sashimi? Yes. They do both. Sushi and sashimi? That's our entire menu! I need to grab customers' attention. Now is the time for the return of FUGU! Dumb thrill seekers provide great word of mouth. But they can't beat us on our cheapness or our willingness to operate at a loss. No one cares about quality when the samples are free. After tapping on Akira's exclamation mark I think I saw an alien while I was out. He was actually a pretty nice guy/thing. Turned out, we both really like raw dolphin meat. By the way, where are all the Asian people. Are they all crammed into the Buddhist monastery, burning offerings to their ancestors? That is a good time. Yeah... Asian people... Comic Book Guy now has a Japanese wife. That fat, hairy kaiju?! Is she a horrific creature from the sea as well? No, she's very pretty. And really easy to talk to. And smart. Doesn't say a lot of jokes though, but no worse than any other woman in town. After tapping on Akira's exclamation mark Hey, um, where are the Asian people? Heh... sooooo, remember when I mentioned Comic Book Guy's wife? Yeah. That may or may not have been a long time ago, but it was just one conversation back. Sooooo… you and her are it. What?! I've seen a space alien! Are you telling me there are half as many space aliens in this town as there are Asian people? There are actually possibly three aliens in this town... if the town belongs to a big spender. THREE SPACE ALIENS?! There are more space aliens than Asian people?! Well, there is Apu. Does Indian count as Asian? Our potato-headed, whiskey-soaked papist mayor is about to get an angry Asian earful. And before you tell me what I said was racist, I never said Japanese people aren't racist. Just that this is messed up. The player receives "Demographic Rude-ity Pt. 2" which is to "Make Akira Take on City Hall". It takes 24 hours. I hear you and understand your frustration. This issue is hotter than spicy kimchi! That's Korean. Er, is that the wrong type of youse? Siracha? Does that work? This meeting has not gone well. Here me out in full. The 2010 Census says that 5.6% of the US population is Asian. By my count, we have more than 150 possible individuals in Springfield, not including outfits— How many of those individuals speak? I bet you're counting pets! Limiting to only those who have said things, we have over 100 men, women, children, and whoozits like that. Counting you, Kumiko, and Nasapota…the Apus, we have an almost 5% Asian population. Demographically, we're pretty on par with the country. Additionally, three quarters of Asian-Americans are concentrated in 10 states. Perhaps Springfield isn't in one of those states. We might be a little more diverse than you give us credit for…speaking relative only to the least diverse parts of America.

After tapping on Kumiko's exclamation mark Akira-san, I heard of your efforts to diversify Springfield. I wanted to applaud you on your efforts, as valiant as ineffective. Ah, Kumiko-chan, it is nice to meet you. Lisa was right. You are easy to talk to, and rarely get jokes to say. Actually, I am quite funny. But only in Japanese, the best language for all comedy. I could use a laugh. Let us converse in the tongue of our ancestors, and practice speaking behind everyone else's back without them knowing. The player receives "I Think I’m Turning Japanese (Because I Am Japanese)" which is to " Make Akira Speak Japanese with Kumiko". It takes 6 hours. Ha ha! That is hilarious, Kumiko. What makes it even funnier is how it's impossible to translate into English.

• Two friend levels were added.
• Characters were added back into the Krustyland Goers character group. They were added with the Level 43 update, but removed with the Clash of Clones update.
• The Valentine's Pond was added to the decorations which can be placed in Krustyland.
• Shary Bobbins was moved from the Helpful Guest Stars character collection to More Oddballs.
• The Love Bench was added to the Benches group, which means it can be used for tasks which require a bench.
• Homer's 16 hour task from the 4th July 2014 event to "Safely Do His Job" was removed from his task list.
• Jimbo, Kearney, Dolph, Nelson, Sherri & Terri, and Martin now have the 6 hour task to Go To School. Bart, Lisa, Milhouse, Ralph, Rod, and Todd had the task already. Jimbo, Kearney, and Sherri & Terri will earn the premium rate (though Sherri & Terri only earn for one character unlike their other tasks). Database gets the task for one quest only.
• While Mr Teeny is locked, Krusty will still have the 12 hour task to Walk Mr Teeny and it will earn the regular rate of $420 and 100 XP. After Mr Teeny is unlocked, they’ll both do the task and it will require both Krusty and Mr Teeny to be free. It'll earn $840 and 200 XP.
• Eddie and Lou have their 4-hour tasks in Krustyland to "Ride The Viking Boat" restored, after being removed with the Clash of Clones Event update. Their 8 hour task to "Ride The Eyeballs Of Death" no longer pays premium. This has to be a mistake, as it is a premium attraction in Krustyland, and other non-premium characters like Lisa, Bart, and Comic Book Guy still earn premium for the same task.
• Building base multipliers updated. Level 36 buildings are now at the base rate, levels 37 & 38 at 1.3 times the base rate, level 39 at 1.4 times, level 40 at 1.6 times, level 41 at 2 times, level 42 at 3 times, and levels 43 and 44 at 4 times.
• The default building award for 8 hour buildings now earns 150 and 13 when it used to earn 135 and 15.
• Cool Lisa should now have sounds when touched or given jobs.
