Israel is a country in the Middle East. Its capital city is Jerusalem, an important city for the Islamic, Christian, and Jewish faiths as it contains holy sites from all three.
History
An old edition of the newspaper Jewish News, before it became part of the Springfield Shopper, was seen framed and hung on a wall in the Springfield Shopper office building. The paper carried the headline "State of Israel is Born" on the front page.[1]
The Simpsons and the Flanders family visited Israel along with several members of the First Church of Springfield.[2]
