- The episode name is a reference to Four Weddings and a Funeral.
- The couch gag is a parody of The Hobbit.
Marcia Wallace
"Four Regrettings and a Funeral" was the first episode to air following Wallace's death on October 25, 2013.
- In tribute to Ms. Wallace, the episode's chalkboard gag was "We'll really miss you Mrs. K."
- The closing credits included a dedication clip. It was captioned "In loving memory of Marcia Wallace" and depicted Mrs. Krabappel sitting on her desk. After a brief silence, Mrs. K gave vent to her trademark "Ha!"
