Synopsis[edit]

"Lisa must solve a closed-boat mystery when Comic Book Guy's million-dollar action figure is "murdered" on a pop culture cruise."

Plot[edit]

When Marge checks the mailbox outside, she finds two letters stuck to the top of the mailbox that had COVID-19 stimulus checks in them. She decides to spend the money on something, and Lisa suggests that the family goes on a cruise together, although Lisa suggests that Homer wouldn't like it. The family arrive at the Pacific Princess Leia and Homer is horrified to find that it's a pop culture "nerd" cruise. Homer walks around the ship and complains about everything and starts to insult the other passengers, until he is knocked unconscious by someone in a Star Trek costume. On the ship, Lisa meets Taika Waititi, who she is a fan of.

An announcement comes over the speakers saying that the king and queen of the nerd prom, Comic Book Guy and Kumiko, have arrived. Comic Book Guy reveals that he has brought his extremely rare Radioactive Man action figure, with Wolverine claws, to the ship with him. Bart is annoyed that Comic Book Guy is also on the cruise as Comic Book Guy insulted the comic book he made, Croc-A-Gator, and shredded it in front of other kids. Bart announces that he will get his revenge on Comic Book Guy. At dinner that night, Bart confronts Comic Book Guy, who is having people pay to look at his action figure. As this is happening, the lights go out and when they come back on again, the head of the action figure is missing. Bart is blamed for this as he had motive, and there were three scratches on his cheek, which looked like they came from the action figure's claws. Bart is then arrested and put into the ship's jail.

Bart swears to Lisa that he didn't do the crime, and tells Lisa all the previous times he's lied to her to prove it. Lisa realizes that she believes Bart and decides to investigate the crime herself. Taika Waititi decides to help Lisa as he needs to be multitasking at all times. The two of them interview other passengers on the ship, including Milhouse, Sideshow Mel, and Kumiko. However, they find that many people have a motive for the crime. When Lisa goes back to her room, she finds the head of the Radioactive Man figure under Bart's bed and realizes that he lied to her and he really did do it. However, shortly after, Rainier Wolfcastle knocks on Lisa's door and reveals that he saw who the criminal was. Before he could tell her though, he was knocked unconscious by a Captain America shield. Lisa chases the assailant but loses him, before she finds Taika eating leftover food outside of passenger rooms, which he dips into Vegemite. Kumiko then approaches the two of them and reveals that Comic Book Guy is missing.

Lisa, Taika, and Kumiko discuss the crime and try and work out who the culprit is. Taika then reveals that he's solved the case and gathers up the passengers to reveal what he knows. He tells everyone that Comic Book Guy had the action figure insured for £935,000 and then took the money and fled before he could be found out. However, Lisa notices something on the box of the action figure, and comes up with another theory. She tells everyone that someone may have broken their own Radioactive Man figure in a fit of rage, then went on the cruise specifically so they could swap out their broken figure with Comic Book Guy's. Lisa then reveals that the second figure was sold in New Zealand, which is where Taika is from, where they spell "colour" with a u, like on the box of the broken figure. The passengers all accept this theory and search Taika's room, with Lenny finding the intact figure. Taika is then arrested and taken away.

The passengers then resume the search for Comic Book Guy and go to the one place he would never go, the gym. Comic Book Guy tells them that he saw recordings of the interviews and realized that everyone hated him, and even his wife felt like she was losing him. So he went to the gym to hide and think about things. After Comic Book Guy is found, Bart is freed and thanks Lisa for always believing in him, even though she didn't. That night, Comic Book Guy watches the footage of Kumiko from the interview and decides to throw the Radioactive Man figure overboard so that it doesn't come between the two of them again.
