The popularity and impact of The Simpsons has led to the show being referenced in various other media.

Movies

Movie name Picture Reference Basic Instinct A secondary character owns a keyring with a Bart Simpson figurine attached to it. It is shown several times throughout the movie and becomes a key element to explain a murder. Bulworth A short clip showing Lionel Hutz is edited in the opening credits. Catch That Kid A security guard is seen watching the episode "Homer's Night Out" on a television. Flubber For about three seconds, Bart and Lisa laughing on a couch on the yellow robot can be seen. Garfield the Movie Garfield flips the channel of the TV to the episode "Dog of Death". Hop Carlos, a chick (voiced by Hank Azaria) says the line "Everything's coming up Carlos!", a reference to Milhouse's line "Everything's coming up Milhouse!" from "Mom and Pop Art". Serenity The "Fruity Oaty Bar" commercial within the film was partially inspired by the Mr. Sparkle commercial from the episode "In Marge We Trust". Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze A cup with Bart Simpson on it can be seen.

Fable III "Missing Play" After The Ham Sandwich is performed, one of the audience says "Worst play ever", Comic Book Guy's catchphrase. "The Game" After completing the game, one of the people who set it up stated "Worst game ever", again a reference to Comic Book Guy's catchphrase. Icomania 200px One of the icons is the Simpsons couch. The answer is Simpsons. Team Fortress 2 A hat is available to the Medic called "Ze Goggles" with the description stating that it does "nothing", a reference to a line from Ranier Wolfcastle in the episode "Radioactive Man", which has become a popular internet meme. In a blog post on the TF2 website explaining the development of the class "Demoman" (a black Scottish cyclops), the developers mentioned that they made the character black because at the time it looked too much like a "Groundskeeper in Springfield".
