Chubby Chaser
Vehicle Information

The Chubby Chaser is a chariot that Tab Spangler uses as part of the treatment program at Serenity Ranch.

History

When Bart was sent to Serenity Ranch, Tab Spangler put him and the other clients (Kent Brockman, Apu Nahasapeemapetilon and Rainier Wolfcastle) through a variety of physical and psychological exercises. In one exercise, Spangler hitched all four clients to the Chubby Chaser, then had them tow him around a track while he whipped them and made them tell how they had gotten so heavy. Kent Brockman did quite well at this exercise, admitting to gorging on kettle corn during the sports and weather segments of Channel 6 News. Bart, however, evaded the question. He first said he was big-boned and then that he was having a growth spurt. Both statements earned Bart additional cracks of the whip from Spangler. When Bart protested, "This can't be legal", Spangler retorted, "It's legal enough!"

Behind the Laughter

  • The chariot's name drops a possible hint regarding Tab Spangler's sexual orientation: In the gay community, "chubby chaser" is a slang term for a man who is attracted to overweight men.
