Another independent wiki[edit]

There is another independent wiki started by some unknown user **cough cough me cough**. Defiance Wiki for the tv and game series, wikia is not going to get the upper hand here! Escyos 12:45, 4 May 2012 (EDT)

And I went and started another wiki too. I have a wiki addiction...

Capitalization topic[edit]

I actually might be able to get on for the editor meeting today, but I wanted to make sure I had a "HELL NO!!!" on record as regarding capitalizing any of the words on that list when they occur in titles (except when they're the first word). Every style guide I've ever seen takes that approach for articles and prepositions: When they occur in a title, you only capitalize them if they're the first word of the title. My $.02 worth; hope to see you at the meeting. -- Mythigator 09:58, 5 May 2012 (EDT)

Some of those words are generally capitalized (Is for instance, Wikipedia capitalizes it). Most I agree with though. I'll be sure to pass on your thoughts if you don't make it though. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:01, 5 May 2012 (EDT)
"Is" and "Are" would be capitalized in titles because they're verbs. I didn't notice them on the list. -- Mythigator 10:35, 5 May 2012 (EDT)
Did we ever come to a collective agreement about capitalization? -- Mythigator 09:10, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
Pretty much. We follow standard naming procedures, look at Wikipedia if you aren't sure what words are capitalized or not. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 09:40, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
That works fine for me. Thanks! -- Mythigator 09:43, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
I still don't see why we should capitalise "is" in titles like "A Star Is Burns" and "Homer Simpson, This Is Your Wife", and not for titles like "A Star Is Born Again" and "A Star Is Torn". | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:48, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
Because someone moved them to that title. Most likely this guy. :| ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 10:49, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
The way I learned it in school was to capitalize "first word, last word, and all important words". Basically, that means to capitalize everything except articles (a, an, the); conjunctions (and, but, or, for example); and prepositions (to, in, on, of, into, etc.). "Is" and "Are" should be capitalized because they are verbs. The reason we have some episode titles that don't fit the pattern is probably because that's just how the titles happened to be done when the episode pages were first made, and up to now we really haven't addressed the topic. So almost certainly there will be some episode titles around with incorrect capitalization, even aside from some random person making changes. -- Mythigator 11:04, 18 May 2012 (EDT)

Why did you delete User:Phinbart/Fade in and out ? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 11:04, 7 May 2012 (EDT)

Because it isn't notable, there are hundreds of scenes that fade in and out, at least one every episode and we just don't need a page like that. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 11:06, 7 May 2012 (EDT)
Oh, right. I've only scenes fade in and out in two episodes. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 11:08, 7 May 2012 (EDT)

Wordless stories and Quotes tabs[edit]

Got a question/idea and I wanted to see what you thought about it. For wordless stories (for example, a lot of the ones by Sergio Aragonés), there won't be any quotes to put in. However, the Quotes redlinks for those stories are bothersome and look sloppy. What do you think about putting a note on these stories' Quotes tabs, along the lines of "This is a wordless story; as such, it has no quotations."? That way we don't have the redlinks just sitting there, giving the impression that there's supposed to be something under the tab and that we haven't bothered to put it in yet. -- Mythigator 09:23, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

Instead of doing that, I'll add in a parameter to the tabs to exclude the quotes tab by putting "|quotes=no" or something similar. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 09:25, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
Excluding the Quotes tabs completely is probably a better solution, but I wasn't sure how feasible it would be. Well, best of luck with the tweak and thanks for yout thoughts. -- Mythigator 09:28, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
It is done. Resizing the tabs to fill up the blank space would be hard though as we also have a parameter for resizing them if the gags tab is in so there is a blank space where the Quotes tab was. All you have to do is put "|quotes=no" in the tab templates. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 09:30, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
I gave it a try with Ralph's Room 1, and it's not quite there. If you use the parameter to turn off the Quotes tab, the text all ends up center-aligned. -- Mythigator 08:47, 10 May 2012 (EDT)
I saw where I went wrong. Fixed now, and should be fine for other tabs (just checked on appearances to make sure). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 10:17, 10 May 2012 (EDT)
It looks good and works fine now. The pages involved look just a little odd when they're missing the Quotes tab, but I much prefer that look to having a Quotes redlink just sitting there. Besides, the pages' looking a little different may entice a random wandering surfer to stick around and check out the wiki some more. -- Mythigator 08:40, 11 May 2012 (EDT)
I fixed the length earlier so the tabs fill up the most of the page. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 10:35, 11 May 2012 (EDT)

Re:Marcia Wallace[edit]

But Marcia Wallace is the guest star for the episode Ned 'n' Edna's Blend Agenda from the season 23. --AnthonySimpsons 14:52, 11 May 2012 (EDT)

Firstly, please reply on the talk page I left the message. Marcia Wallace has been credited as a guest star for over 150 episodes. If we were to add her to every template and page, it would be kind of pointless. We don't treat her as a guest star here for that reason. In fact, I'm still wondering why they don't just credit her as Also starring by now... SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 15:26, 11 May 2012 (EDT)

Sitenotice error[edit]

I have know idea why, maybe it's for reasons I'm unaware of, but, occasionally, a link on the sitenotice is bold. Why is this? Thank you. --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 06:41, 12 May 2012 (EDT)

I have no idea why this happens but it sorts itself out every time. It seems to happen to me more often when I've recently visited the page in question so it could be some sort of weird cache thing. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 06:42, 12 May 2012 (EDT)
Like I said on your talk page, Frederick, I've encountered this error as well before. It usually happens after you have visited that page. No image[edit]

I think we should user File:No image.png over File:Blank.png. It looks much better on the page, and it shows that there is purposely no image there.--Cook879 19:02, 12 May 2012 (EDT)

I generally use No Image for when there is an image available but no one's uploaded it yet. Blank I use to show there is no image available, i.e. the subject was only mentioned. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 04:55, 13 May 2012 (EDT)

Hi Solar. I see some editing on the Shoutwiki hub, but the database still seems locked. Will editing be back soon?--Orange Ice 21:22, 18 May 2012 (EDT)

Yep, staff are able to edit now. We're testing out our features, such as CreateWiki, and tying to get them to work (having a few problems with CreateWiki right now though :S). Once all the problems are sorted out, editing will be open again :). ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 02:47, 19 May 2012 (EDT)

Hi. Do you have an era for when editing will be open, or is that still unknown ? Thanks.--Orange Ice 10:23, 26 May 2012 (EDT)

Not yet I'm afraid. Still having a few problems with getting everything working again. However, we have upgraded MediaWiki to 1.19 and are just trying to get CreateWiki and a few other things to work first. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 16:35, 26 May 2012 (EDT)

Song appearances[edit]

I was looking at the revision history for Lady Gaga and saw that you left a note about a person's song being heard not counting as an apprearance and that it hadn't been done for any other singer. Well, we apparently did do it once for Barry White. I think it would be easier to just stick with the idea that a song being heard doesn't count as an appearance than it would be to try to add it in for every real-world singer character and episode where it's happened, so I'm going to go ahead and remove that one from Barry White's page. -- Mythigator 14:02, 19 May 2012 (EDT)

Yep. That's fine by me. If a song is played that is by that singer/band, it can be mentioned on either the real-world page for said singer or band or, if we have an article for them, in the Behind the Laughter section. Look at Queen for an example. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 14:49, 19 May 2012 (EDT)
Splendid idea! Done for Barry White's real-world page. -- Mythigator 21:47, 19 May 2012 (EDT)

Music tab[edit]

Because of The Ned-liest Catch/Music and The Falcon and the D'ohman/Music, I'm wondering if the wiki should have a music tab. What do you think? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 05:03, 26 May 2012 (EDT)

Even if we don't have one, we need the improve the pages first. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 05:04, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
Once we have more, sure. Right now, we can hardly do something when, for 506 episodes, it will create a red link.--Cook879 06:56, 26 May 2012 (EDT)
And also, it can easily fit into production or list of songs. WebkinzMania 07:44, 1 June 2012 (EDT)
But the music pages are more detailed. List of songs only include major ones, not ones that are for a few seconds. | SimpsonsFR.pngSimpsonsFA.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFD.pngSimpsonsFO.pngSimpsonsFM.pngSimpsonsFN.pngSimpsonsFO.png | Talk | Contributions | Edit count | 07:50, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

First off, thanks for the Golden Homer!

Second, I won't be able to do the gags page for The Simpsons 138th Episode Spectacular. I have no idea what to do with all of those images from the other couch gags. o.O

WebkinzMania 07:43, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Urm... good point... Just say it's made up of previous gags. We would need to make a list of all the gags eventually so just stick the {{incomplete}} template on the section after. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 07:48, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

For some odd reason, on ShoutWiki, the "align" on the templates doesn't work. The templates go to the left for some reason. Is there a fix for this? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 13:11, 1 June 2012 (EDT)

Would this be considered a promo image? Also, I've left you a few messages on your FHW talk page. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:16, 4 June 2012 (EDT)

No, it's not a promo. A telltale sign of a promo is if there is a "Matt Groening" signature on the image. I can not see one. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 15:43, 4 June 2012 (EDT)
Actually, looking at the image again, I spotted his signature so it is a promo. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 14:44, 26 August 2012 (EDT)

Random stuff[edit]

We should consider giving this a go while it's free, if they put up English to German. If we're successful then we get free translation from people learning the language. Unfortunately the only English -> other is Spainish right now, they only have German and French translating into English.

Also Wikipedia weren't to happy about my links, and some guy reverted them all - even breaking a link I fixed for another external link >_>.--Cook879 05:12, 20 June 2012 (EDT)

Hmm... we could give that a go I guess. Also, unlucky. :P ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 07:59, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
Interesting... I'd be happy to set up a Spanish wiki if you guys want to try this out. :) --Jake 10:13, 20 June 2012 (EDT)
I don't see a problem in applying. I just wish they had German up, 'cos then we have a potential solution to our lull. Let's hope they add it before they consider charging for the service. Also, random trivia, the guy who made this made the captcha. He realized how long everyone wastes on them so has created recaptcha and now this to try and make amends :P--Cook879 12:04, 20 June 2012 (EDT)

What are some of your least favorite Simpsons episodes? --Orange Ice 14:02, 21 June 2012 (EDT)

"The Principal and the Pauper" wins hands down... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:02, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
Seems you're not the only one who thinks that. Most viewers seem to dislike the episode. But with the Simpsons being rather episodic, you can just forget about any episodes you dislike, and can think of them as non-canon.--Orange Ice 14:05, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, we had long discussions about whether it is non-canon. However, due to Lisa calling Skinner "Armin Tanzarian" in "I, (Annoyed Grunt)-bot", we would have to make that non-canon too. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 14:07, 21 June 2012 (EDT)
Well everyone has their own thoughts on whether certain episodes are canon or not. People can pretty much cross off any episodes they don't like as non-canon.--Orange Ice 14:10, 21 June 2012 (EDT)

Lost Verizon[edit]

During the part when Homer sees a Bart-shaped bush and thinks it's Bart, he mentions some trickster god. I was wondering if Simpsons World might have the name in it, so I could get the correct spelling. Also, maybe you could double check the name Incan god. Thanks. :) --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 19:16, 21 June 2012 (EDT)

The Incan god was named Warrior statue in Simpsons World and I have an article for that already (it was a factfile). I'll check the book later for the other thing. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 03:22, 22 June 2012 (EDT)
Oh, whoops! I guess you can delete the Incan god page then. (Heh, we both picked the same quote. :P) Anyway, I tried looking for that other god on Wikipedia, but not knowing how to spell it's name, I didn't have much luck. :\ --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 10:51, 22 June 2012 (EDT)
You're in luck, the quote is in the book :P Called "Wirakocha". Had to triple check that to make sure I spelled it right :P The Solar Dragon 11:32, 22 June 2012 (EDT)
Sweet! Looked it up on Wikipedia, which lists it as "Wiracocha" an alternate spelling for Viracocha. It is an Incan god, but the page doesn't say anything about it being a trickster. At any rate, I'll make the page later. --Nick97 (talk ~ contribs) 12:43, 22 June 2012 (EDT)

Why is "Translation" on the LanguageBox not in the center, in line with "Language" and "Name"? Also, the input in the {{TB|} is also not in line with the others, and is at the top of the box. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:39, 23 June 2012 (EDT)

This is a known problem if German is not the first language in the box. I am currently working on fixing it, as you can see if you look a recent changes. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 12:41, 23 June 2012 (EDT)
I created Template:LanguageBoxEs to try and fix the problem by putting the Spanish box first. That has not fixed it. Therefore, it has something to do with the German part of the box. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 08:51, 24 June 2012 (EDT)
No, I figured out what was causing the problems, it is the switch parser functions. No idea why they are doing it but it is annoying... ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 08:53, 24 June 2012 (EDT)

Simpsons World on Sale[edit]

Just saw hardcover Simpsons World on sale for $15 on Barnes and Noble. With a coupon, it is under $13. Is this Springfield Shopper/twitter newsworthy? The hardcover usually goes for around $150. {{SUBST:WebkinzMania/sig}} 12:42, 23 June 2012 (EDT)

It has been dropping in price a lot recently. This is also notable to our American readers. However, feel free to write a news article about it anyway as in this slow news period, any news is good. The Solar Dragon 12:45, 23 June 2012 (EDT)

How good are you with wikicodes? I'm having trouble with this template and nobody at the Kingdom Hearts Wiki is able to repair it. The problem: images and quote are on the left, and they won't go to the center. If you won't help, I'll understand, but it'll mean that the template will be deleted. (Oh, btw, due to a recent argument involving two guys that started off-wiki, account creation and IP editing is currently disabled. Once you figure out the problem, just leave a message on my talk page) UxieLover1994 06:06, 26 June 2012 (EDT)

It's hard to know for sure without being able to edit (if you can get me an account, I could make any changes if this doesn't work). In the image, it currently has |right|, try changing that to |center|. For quote, there is an align="right" in the table code, try changing that to align="center" If this doesn't work, try and get me an account and I'll see what I can do. Alternatively, I could always make myself a sandbox wiki on ShoutWiki to make test edits like this. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 08:01, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I tried to center it, but it remains on the left. I have since deleted it. Is it okay if you can use your sandbox wiki to help us make a new one to replace it? I'll give you the data we had before it was destroyed. UxieLover1994 08:51, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I'll need to make the wiki first. It would be better if you restored the template, just temporarily, so I can get the code and adjust it to get it to work. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 08:54, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I've left you the code on this page. It can be viewed by editing it. UxieLover1994 08:56, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
Then again, if you want me to restore the template, just ask. I'll be happy to, but using the code I gage you is easier. Let me know when the template's restored, and I'll test it. Ratchetpedia seems to use different coding than most sites. I'm not 100% sure what we use, but Sove would know. UxieLover1994 09:14, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
How's this? Doesn't look exactly centered but that is the best I could do, better than before. I have also cleaned up a hell of a lot of unneeded code from there. The background will still be clear (my wiki's background is blue so that is why it's that colour) SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 09:31, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I don't know. Ratchetpedia won't load. I'll let you know once the site is back up. UxieLover1994 10:05, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
There's a small problem: No images; just an ! UxieLover1994 10:08, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
The images and quote are now in the center, but now we're having difficulties with the image size, as well as an ! above the image. I thank you for your help though; you did help us solve the origial problem, and I am proud of you. UxieLover1994 10:14, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I'll see what I can do about those too then. The Solar Dragon 10:16, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
Try this now. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 10:19, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
Still some problems, but the image is working fine... if only we can control it's size. Sove and I are going to compare the two templates to see it we can find the problem ourselves, but in the meanwhile, thanks for your help, amigo. ;) UxieLover1994 10:43, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
I see what's wrong with the size, you need to add "px" into the infobox or move the "px" out of the {{{px|280px}}} in the infobox code. Not sure why the exclamation mark is there, looking into that. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 10:50, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
Hang on, think I solve the exclamation mark thing. Try the new code now. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 10:51, 26 June 2012 (EDT)
The mark's gone, but there's still problems, and no matter how much we tried, nothing seems to work. We're going to have to scrap it and construct a new one. Are you good with template construction? We still need help, but if nobody helps us, we'll die. If you don't want to help, that's fine, but it means we'll have to resort to stealing from Bulbapedia. UxieLover1994 05:28, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
Wait, what's wrong with it now then? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 05:47, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
You know how you removed all that data from the "repaired" verson? They were needed. It was actually fine the way it was before the images and quote were corrected. I was only asking for the images and quote to be centered; that's all. I can give you the origial copy again if you like, but what's the point if the same problems are going to continue. So sorry I brought you into this mess. UxieLover1994 05:54, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
Well, bearing in mind I tested the infobox and it worked perfectly, I'm kind of confused. All that coding did was make another table within the table, which was unneeded, so all that had to be done was to make it all one table, which is what I did... and it worked. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 05:57, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
Ratchetpedia uses different codding than ShoutWiki; it works fine in one place, but terrible in another. Sove would know more about this. I'll ask Sove to allow IP editing tonight so that you can still help out with this mess. This is where the templates are being held until there are repaired or replaced. UxieLover1994 06:00, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
Nope, they both use MediaWiki and so would use the same coding. There is no css or JavaScript used in this infobox so they wouldn't appear different on both wikis. They should have both been the same. Unless something went wrong when copying over, I don't know why it wouldn't have worked. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:04, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
To get a better idea, can you tell me what is wrong with this? ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:10, 28 June 2012 (EDT)
The outer light-blue line should not be there. It should be the background color. UxieLover1994 06:14, 28 June 2012 (EDT)

ShoutWiki problems[edit]

For some reason, I can't access ShoutWiki and when I try to, it redirects me to http://shoutwiki.com/wiki/500.shtml. Is there a problem with ShoutWiki? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 09:11, 8 July 2012 (EDT)

Doesn't matter now. There must have been a glitch. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 09:57, 8 July 2012 (EDT)

Spam filter on ShoutWiki[edit]

For some reason, I can't edit at all on ShoutWiki. Whenever I come to save a page, it comes up with a notice that my edit has been blocked by the spam protection filter. What's going on? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 04:02, 20 July 2012 (EDT)

Oh dear... Okay, what edits are you trying to make? What pages are you editing on? What is your IP? I need to check these all to make sure the spam filter isn't blocking any of these. The Solar Dragon 04:10, 20 July 2012 (EDT)
So far, on Fish Hooks Wiki, I've tried to edit "Unfinished Doll Business", "Rescheduled episodes" and "User talk:Solar Dragon". On ShoutWiki, I tried to edit your talk page. My IP is ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 04:21, 20 July 2012 (EDT)

it seemed that something we blocked seemed to block your IP as well for some reason, which is why you couldn't edit. I just removed the block and it seemed to work. The Solar Dragon 04:36, 20 July 2012 (EDT)

Investigation into incidents between Escyos and Supergeeky[edit]

I am Inquisitor Ehrenstein from Wikkii. (http://community.wikkii.net) I am here as part of an investigation into actions by a former Community Staff member (Escyos).

I saw in your archives that you apparently ended an affiliate program with Escyos. I also saw in that conversation that you said that he had been impersonating and harassing Supergeeky at Shoutwiki. Could you please give links or any other knowledge of this, to help the investigation? I am currently trying to determine whether Escyos is in fact a victim in this situation as he claims, or if he's just trying to cover for himself by blaming Supergeeky. He sent me an email claiming that Supergeeky has been impersonating and harassing him; this occurred during the same time as Escyos allegedly vandalized Rachetpedia. It's actually fairly likely it was him, but I'm waiting to make that conclusion until I can rule out that there was no way he was impersonated during it. (The issue was Escyos was mad about pictures Supergeeky uploaded that supposedly belonged to him, and after failed negotiations with Sove, he started vandalizing the wiki.)

If you don't want to publicly post anything here, you can send it to inquisitorehrenstein@sturmkrieg.com

Help from G&W Wiki[edit]

Dear Solar Dragon,

I am a relatively new editor for the G&W Wiki. I'm trying my best to fix some technical things and since you say you're good at the wiki code, I though you might be of great assistance. I invite you to see the Recent Changes and Main page discussions to know what's going on right now. Please don't take this as an intrusion, but that wiki needs at least some attention from an experienced person like yourself. I hope you will agree to my proposal; I see a bright future for that wiki. Thank you for your time,

HUGE Tapped Out update[edit]

According to users on the Tapped Out forums, there is a huge update, and with it comes new characters and buildings. I'm trying to download it, but it's stuck on 6/10, so I'm wondering whether you could confirm this big update. Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 14:35, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

If this was the last update which came around a couple of days ago, it wasn't that big. It was just minor bug fixes. I have no new updates right now. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 14:48, 21 September 2012 (EDT)

Transcript listing[edit]

Before I do anything more, should the transcript listing temple look like this: User:FatHomer/Episode_Transcript_Listing? Or what "sections" are needed? FatHomerTalk 06:23, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

I think that looks fine. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 06:25, 30 September 2012 (EDT)
We should have "written by" or what do you think? FatHomerTalk 06:51, 30 September 2012 (EDT)

Okay, yes, Tara Paul was credited with her middle initial. However, on other pages, such as other crew, have their real-world name as the title on the page and just say after their real-world name, for example, "credited as Frederick Malcolm"... Do you see what I mean? --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 06:14, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

The James L. Brooks article has the "L." in it and is not just James Brooks. I generally go for latest credited name is the article name. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 10:58, 4 October 2012 (EDT)
No, no. I don't mean that. >.<! James L. Brooks is his professionally used name. If he, in one episode, was credited as "Jim Brooks" (which is not very likely...) we would say, credited in one episode as Jim Brooks. It has nothing to do with the initial.... Tara Paul is credited with her middle initial and according to IMBd she is better known without her initial, just "Tara Paul". --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 00:43, 5 October 2012 (EDT)
This is a wiki about The Simpsons, not anything else. I go for last credited name for all crew members. This is what we should do. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 03:12, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Possible copyright violation[edit]

I don't know if I'm mistaken... But I was on YouTube and I came across this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pO3mApm0mf4. They could of asked someone to do it on the wiki. I don't know.... But I believe they are violating the copyright infringements of Wikisimpsons. --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 08:59, 4 October 2012 (EDT)

I think we should not abuse the video. They link to us, and some you say every publicity is good publicity. /AleWi 09:11, 4 October 2012 (EDT)
I see no problem. It is using our actual pages and does link to us, and so is not just stealing content. I see no reason how this could be bad publicity, and I don't think it would count as copyright violation, and if it was it would be covered by fair use.--Cook879 10:09, 4 October 2012 (EDT)
I don't see why it could be bad. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 11:09, 4 October 2012 (EDT)
Awesome. I thought the same thing but I was just checking with you. :-) --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 00:38, 5 October 2012 (EDT)
The tone of the guy's video is along the lines of "here's something interesting I read online", almost as though he were writing a blog entry. Since he's showing where he's getting the information he's sharing and not making any claims about it being his own, I don't see where there's any problem. -- Mythigator 03:12, 5 October 2012 (EDT)

Kang & Kodos in couch gag: Is this canon?[edit]

I've been working on the UFO article a little bit at a time, and it occurred to me that Kang's and Kodos's ship appears in the Powers of Ten parody couch gag. Would these appearances be considered canon or non-canon? Under ordinary circumstances I'd say yes without hesitation, but with Kang and Kodos being mostly non-canon, I'm not so sure about this specific appearance. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks ... -- Mythigator 11:51, 9 October 2012 (EDT)

Well, they have only had a handful of canon appearances. However, all couch gags are classed as non-canon so this one would too. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 12:16, 9 October 2012 (EDT)
That works for me, thanks. -- Mythigator 14:41, 9 October 2012 (EDT)

Tapped Out content updates page[edit]

I'm just wondering, should we have a "The Simpsons: Tapped Out content updates" page? First - there will be several content updates released and the Tapped Out page will be really long eventually. Two - we can't put the content on my sub-page on the Halloween characters into the mainspace, because there's not enough content on it. If you like the idea, I'll create a page. If not, I'll have to figure out how to put the content on my sub-page somewhere else. Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 11:42, 10 October 2012 (EDT)

That seems like a good idea. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 13:43, 10 October 2012 (EDT)
Great - I'll start on it either sometime this evening or tomorrow. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 14:15, 10 October 2012 (EDT)

Halloween's come early on the German wiki....[edit]

When I access the German wiki, they are LOTS of lines of text on the main page. But when I click the edit button to remove it, the text in the edit page was the text before the vandalism struck. This has also affected all of other pages - but not like the Main Page's edit page. I'm trying to block the vandlizers but the German is confusing me. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:06, 11 October 2012 (EDT)

Could you put something on the sitenotice about Blog:Tapped Out info needs filling in? Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 10:51, 27 October 2012 (EDT)

I see that you did re-install Tapped Out. Once the Muntz House has finished building (which I presume is what you are building at the moment), can you check if Nelson goes trick-or-treating or not? Also, can you get pictures of Nelson as a zombie and Nelson in his non-zombie state (the current pic of normal Nelson is blurry) Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 11:55, 28 October 2012 (EDT)
