Capitalization topic

I actually might be able to get on for the editor meeting today, but I wanted to make sure I had a "HELL NO!!!" on record as regarding capitalizing any of the words on that list when they occur in titles (except when they're the first word). Every style guide I've ever seen takes that approach for articles and prepositions: When they occur in a title, you only capitalize them if they're the first word of the title. The way I learned it in school was to capitalize "first word, last word, and all important words". Basically, that means to capitalize everything except articles (a, an, the); conjunctions (and, but, or, for example); and prepositions (to, in, on, of, into, etc.). "Is" and "Are" should be capitalized because they are verbs. The reason we have some episode titles that don't fit the pattern is probably because that's just how the titles happened to be done when the episode pages were first made, and up to now we really haven't addressed the topic. So almost certainly there will be some episode titles around with incorrect capitalization, even aside from some random person making changes. -- Mythigator 11:04, 18 May 2012 (EDT)

Wordless stories and Quotes tabs

Got a question/idea and I wanted to see what you thought about it. For wordless stories (for example, a lot of the ones by Sergio Aragonés), there won't be any quotes to put in. However, the Quotes redlinks for those stories are bothersome and look sloppy. What do you think about putting a note on these stories' Quotes tabs, along the lines of "This is a wordless story; as such, it has no quotations."? That way we don't have the redlinks just sitting there, giving the impression that there's supposed to be something under the tab and that we haven't bothered to put it in yet. -- Mythigator 09:23, 9 May 2012 (EDT)

It is done. Resizing the tabs to fill up the blank space would be hard though as we also have a parameter for resizing them if the gags tab is in so there is a blank space where the Quotes tab was. It looks good and works fine now. The pages involved look just a little odd when they're missing the Quotes tab, but I much prefer that look to having a Quotes redlink just sitting there. If we were to add her to every template and page, it would be kind of pointless. We don't treat her as a guest star here for that reason. Song appearances

I was looking at the revision history for Lady Gaga and saw that you left a note about a person's song being heard not counting as an apprearance and that it hadn't been done for any other singer. Well, we apparently did do it once for Barry White. I think it would be easier to just stick with the idea that a song being heard doesn't count as an appearance than it would be to try to add it in for every real-world singer character and episode where it's happened, so I'm going to go ahead and remove that one from Barry White's page. -- Mythigator 14:02, 19 May 2012 (EDT)

Random stuff

We should consider giving this a go while it's free, if they put up English to German. If we're successful then we get free translation from people learning the language. Unfortunately the only English -> other is Spainish right now, they only have German and French translating into English.

LanguageBox

WikiCodes

How good are you with wikicodes? I'm having trouble with this template and nobody at the Kingdom Hearts Wiki is able to repair it. The problem: images and quote are on the left, and they won't go to the center. If you won't help, I'll understand, but it'll mean that the template will be deleted. (Oh, btw, due to a recent argument involving two guys that started off-wiki, account creation and IP editing is currently disabled. It's hard to know for sure without being able to edit (if you can get me an account, I could make any changes if this doesn't work). In the image, it currently has |right|, try changing that to |center|. For quote, there is an align="right" in the table code, try changing that to align="center" If this doesn't work, try and get me an account and I'll see what I can do. Well, bearing in mind I tested the infobox and it worked perfectly, I'm kind of confused. All that coding did was make another table within the table, which was unneeded, so all that had to be done was to make it all one table, which is what I did... and it worked. Ratchetpedia uses different codding than ShoutWiki; it works fine in one place, but terrible in another. Sove would know more about this. Nope, they both use MediaWiki and so would use the same coding. There is no css or JavaScript used in this infobox so they wouldn't appear different on both wikis. Spam filter on ShoutWiki

Investigation into incidents between Escyos and Supergeeky

Hello.

I am Inquisitor Ehrenstein from Wikkii. (http://community.wikkii.net) I am here as part of an investigation into actions by a former Community Staff member (Escyos).

I saw in your archives that you apparently ended an affiliate program with Escyos. I also saw in that conversation that you said that he had been impersonating and harassing Supergeeky at Shoutwiki. Could you please give links or any other knowledge of this, to help the investigation? I am currently trying to determine whether Escyos is in fact a victim in this situation as he claims, or if he's just trying to cover for himself by blaming Supergeeky. He sent me an email claiming that Supergeeky has been impersonating and harassing him; this occurred during the same time as Escyos allegedly vandalized Rachetpedia. It's actually fairly likely it was him, but I'm waiting to make that conclusion until I can rule out that there was no way he was impersonated during it. (The issue was Escyos was mad about pictures Supergeeky uploaded that supposedly belonged to him, and after failed negotiations with Sove, he started vandalizing the wiki.)

However, on other pages, such as other crew, have their real-world name as the title on the page and just say after their real-world name, for example, "credited as Frederick Malcolm"... Kang & Kodos in couch gag: Is this canon?

I've been working on the UFO article a little bit at a time, and it occurred to me that Kang's and Kodos's ship appears in the Powers of Ten parody couch gag. Would these appearances be considered canon or non-canon? Under ordinary circumstances I'd say yes without hesitation, but with Kang and Kodos being mostly non-canon, I'm not so sure about this specific appearance. What are your thoughts on this? I'm just wondering, should we have a "The Simpsons: Tapped Out content updates" page? First - there will be several content updates released and the Tapped Out page will be really long eventually. Two - we can't put the content on my sub-page on the Halloween characters into the mainspace, because there's not enough content on it. If you like the idea, I'll create a page. Halloween's come early on the German wiki....

When I access the German wiki, they are LOTS of lines of text on the main page. But when I click the edit button to remove it, the text in the edit page was the text before the vandalism struck. This has also affected all of other pages - but not like the Main Page's edit page.
