J. P. Patches[edit]

J. P. Patches was one of the real-life inspirations for Krusty, which explains the in-joke behind the name being included on the list of birthday buddies in "Radio Bart". Not notable enough? -- Mythigator 10:09, 6 February 2013 (EST)

I don't think so. A mention on Krusty's page in the Behind the Laughter is enough for him. Maybe even a redirect to that section. I don't think he should get an article though. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 12:12, 6 February 2013 (EST)
Just checking, since it was the bot that did the actual deletion. I just wanted to make sure that there was some actual thought process behind it. :-) In addition to a BtL mention on Krusty's page, J.P. should also get a mention in the References tab for "Radio Bart". I'll attend to both of those, thanks much. -- Mythigator 14:05, 6 February 2013 (EST)

Offline[edit]

How come Wikisimpsons goes offline for brief spells? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:41, 12 February 2013 (EST)

Don't know, ask Jake. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 15:57, 12 February 2013 (EST)

File:Maggie Simpson Oscars 1.jpg[edit]

Where'd you get the image from? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 17:52, 19 February 2013 (EST)

Here. The Simpsons Facebook page shared the link so they are definitely official. The Solar Dragon 17:53, 19 February 2013 (EST)
I looked on FoxFlash, but all I could find were new promo images for "Black-Eyed, Please". ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 17:54, 19 February 2013 (EST)
Oh, thanks for telling me. I'll get those uploaded ASAP. The Solar Dragon 17:55, 19 February 2013 (EST)

Crystal Award[edit]

Could you update the sitenotice to say "Voting for the Crystal Homer Awards for 2012 has started"? Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 05:20, 23 February 2013 (EST)

Done.--Cook879 13:43, 25 February 2013 (EST)

Tumblr[edit]

It's you who writes the Tumblr posts isn't it? If I'm right, then I have uploaded a bigger version of the Angry Dad: The Movie promo you featured in the last post. Better than that pixelated one before. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:24, 25 February 2013 (EST)

AleWi actually created it and looks after it most. I do however have access to it so I will update the picture. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 15:25, 25 February 2013 (EST)
No wonder a couple of the posts don't make sense then. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:28, 25 February 2013 (EST)
I'll try and proof read all future posts and change them. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 15:30, 25 February 2013 (EST)
Could you post something about Season 24 premiering in the UK with "Moonshine River" on March 24? Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:03, 12 March 2013 (EDT)

Platinum and Crystal awards[edit]

Hi, I have two things to ask you:

  1. Have you contacted Smiley12 yet about the Platinum Award trophy?
  2. Can you change the sitenotice to read "Two days of voting left in the 2012 Crystal Homer Awards!".

Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 05:22, 2 March 2013 (EST)

Solar? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 05:20, 3 March 2013 (EST)
Instead of "Two days" could you put "one day"? Thanks, ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 11:54, 6 March 2013 (EST)

Daily Mail article[edit]

Someone on the Tapped Out forums found this: a Daily Mail article about a 8-year-old running up a bill of £1000 buying donuts on Tapped Out. Where could I put this on the Tapped Out article? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:39, 13 March 2013 (EDT)

No where. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 13:09, 13 March 2013 (EDT)
I thought it would be notable. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 13:13, 13 March 2013 (EDT)
Not really to do with the game. It shouldn't be noted that some parent was stupid enough to let their kid buy £1000 worth of donuts. It's not to do with the game at all. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 13:15, 13 March 2013 (EDT)

"High to Be Loathed" Screencaps[edit]

By any chance, were you able to get a screencap of Burns casting the Terminators' shadows as he sings the song? I tried getting one from the episode video link at IMDB, but the replay was so choppy that they don't show up at all. As seen on TV, each Terminator's shadow appears as Burns sings "1", "2" and "3" so it finishes with Burns casting all three shadows at the same time. It would be a cool pic for the Terminator references article. -- Mythigator 14:05, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

I'll get the screenshot when I can. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 14:08, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

April Fools Day[edit]

Got anything planned for Monday? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:37, 30 March 2013 (EDT)

Not this year. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 12:39, 30 March 2013 (EDT)
I know -- do what I've done for Fish Hooks Wiki. Ask Twitter and/or Facebook users to send in/tweet what they think Bart could do for April Fools Day? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:29, 31 March 2013 (EDT)

Top Trumps[edit]

Would you be able to help out on The Simpsons Sports Day Top Trumps by helping to fill in the table?~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 10:26, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

Sorry, no can do. My Top Trumps are now all boxed up and sealed away. You can find the pack slideshows on Ultimate Top Trumps for other Simpsons Top Trumps but not Sports Day as they aren't there yet. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 10:32, 5 April 2013 (EDT)

ShoutWiki[edit]

Do you know what's up with ShoutWiki? I get an error message when I try to access it. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:05, 7 April 2013 (EDT)

The wiki's back online now. Any idea what went wrong? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 15:30, 7 April 2013 (EDT)
The error message is back. Do you know what's up? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 04:16, 8 April 2013 (EDT)

Cutscenes[edit]

Should the cutscenes in Tapped Out each have their own article now they've been officially named, and the fact that they are Simpsons shorts? I think either that, or a page listing all of them. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 07:40, 12 April 2013 (EDT)

Hutz[edit]

Sorry about the poor quality image i only really put it on here as proof that Lionel Hutz was in the movie, i also have pictures that prove that Troy McClure and Dr. Marvin Monroe appeared. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LewisGravenellnew (talkcontribs) 14:19, 16 April 2013‎

Hi, firstly, I'm not even sure if we should count these as proper appearances for these characters. I'm guessing that the animators just reused character templates and changed them a bit. Since this Hutz has different hair, I don't think it is him. It's just a reuse of his template to bulk up the crowd scenes. How many characters are in these scenes? Imagine if the animators had to create every single one from scratch. Secondly, we used to have loads of terrible quality images taken with cameras on Wikisimpsons. I replaced them all over a long period of time. We just don't want any more as a result. All you need to do is get it on the computer and hit print screen instead as that is a lot easier for taking images. :P Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 14:23, 16 April 2013 (EDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the Autopatrolled promotion :). Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:06, 20 April 2013 (EDT)

It's no big deal. It just means that I, and other admins, don't have to mark all your edits as patrolled any more as there isn't any need to patrol every one of your edits. :P The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 11:08, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
By the way, I noticed that Wikia is higher ranked in Google than ShoutWiki. How do you make ShoutWiki higher ranked? The wikis aren't really that popular and Wikia's more popular editor-wise and ranking-wise. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:30, 20 April 2013 (EDT)
There are various ways to raise your Google rank. Number of pages on a website is one of them, which is why Wikia is usually higher ranked. There is also number of websites linking in to the website which raises the ranking. The more pages and links into the wiki, the higher the Google ranking. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 11:32, 20 April 2013 (EDT)

ShoutWiki Wiki Creation Limit[edit]

I understand only five can be made per account for Google Rankings reasons, but will that be changed someday? I want to really help create wikis there to make it a match against Wikia. Gazlene the Pork Girl 18:29, 25 April 2013 (EDT)

Hi. Firstly, messages relating to ShoutWiki should be left on my ShoutWiki talk page(s). Secondly, the limit is there to stop users from creating hundreds of wikis which are empty and useless. It is hard to work on more than five wikis at the same time. The Solar Dragon 03:16, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
I do understand. Wikia allows millions to be created and it turns out that ninety-seven percent of their wikis are inactive. I also thoguht you were here more so I decided to contact you here. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:00, 26 April 2013 (EDT)
While I am here more, I get email notifications when I get a talk page message on ShoutWiki so I will know if someone leaves me a message there. I prefer to keep the two wikis separate. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 12:36, 26 April 2013 (EDT)

Simpsons ShoutWiki[edit]

Would it be okay to make one? I do feel it's important for there to be wikis with their own significant style. It is meant to compete with SimpsonsWikia. Gazlene the Pork Girl 23:41, 26 April 2013 (EDT)

I would obviously prefer it if you did not, as would all the other members of Wikisimpsons. Just think about it. You would be making another rival to Wikisimpsons. It would also be impossible to get your new wiki to anywhere near as good as Wikisimpsons. It would be a waste of time and effort. The Solar Dragon 05:27, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
How about a Simpsons Comics Wiki? Gazlene the Pork Girl 09:18, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
We considered this before. In fact, we considered a Bongo Comics wiki before, not just for Simpsons but for Futurama and all the other Bongo Comics. No one ever got round to doing it though. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 09:23, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
I guess I could start a Bongo Comics Wiki. I'll set it up now. UPDATE: Here's the link: http://bongocomics.shoutwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page Gazlene the Pork Girl 09:24, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Another question, where is the best place to promote ShoutWiki or the wikis on it. I'd love help or an answer to this. Before you say Mariopedia is a clone of Super Mario Wiki, this wiki allows pirated Mario games to be articles. Porple also said it's okay to make a Mariopedia. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:34, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Best place is probably fan forums. Wikisimpsons became popular because we had articles for new episodes before any other wiki. Once Tapped Out came out, we got a lot more visitors because of the game. Simply, add content that other wikis don't have and promote through fan forums. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 11:36, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Fan forums don't really allow it, but it's worth a shot. My old Game Boy Color Wiki was quite successful on DKC Atlas. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:46, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Do you have any time to help spruce up Bongo Comics Wiki? I'm not very good with designing the main page. Gazlene the Pork Girl 16:57, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Not really. If you give me a basic design, I'll code it for you. But I'm not great with designing things. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 16:58, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
Would it be okay if you could help out the wiki if you have time? Anything helps. Gazlene the Pork Girl 18:58, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

Video Game Wiki[edit]

This is ShoutWiki and Wikisimpsons related, so no need to worry about the talk page rules. I was wondering how much articles and images with quality I should create on Video Game Wiki if I can ever one day affiliate it with Wikisimpsons. I currently made twenty-six articles on the wiki. Gazlene the Pork Girl 12:24, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

I would like a couple of hundred articles before I even consider affiliation. Also, at least a couple of Simpsons-related articles as there are many Simpsons games. For future affiliation requests, please speak to our representative, Mythigator. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 12:59, 30 April 2013 (EDT)
I do have Bart vs. the Space Mutants articles on there split into different pages per version for ease as versions contain differences. I'll try to add some more in the future. Thanks for your help :). Gazlene the Pork Girl 14:37, 30 April 2013 (EDT)

50,000+ EDITS![edit]

Hey, Solar! Good job with getting of 50,000 edits with just over 25,000 of them being mainspace edit! Great work, my friend and keep running the wiki like you are. --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 00:02, 12 May 2013 (EDT)

Heh. Edit count doesn't mean anything. It's quality of the edits that matter. And, tbh, mine are usually pretty high quality. :P SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 04:27, 12 May 2013 (EDT)
I also subscribe to the "quality over quantity" school of thought when it comes to edits, but 50,000 is still a notable milestone. I think it speaks to your commitment to making this wiki a success (and the best English-language Simpsons wiki on the Internet). Keep up the great work! -- Mythigator 04:43, 12 May 2013 (EDT)
It's not just the best English-language Simpsons wiki on the Internet, it's also the best English-language Simpsons website on the Internet :P The Solar Dragon 07:47, 12 May 2013 (EDT)

TOCU[edit]

Something's going wrong with the TOCU template. See the problem here. Do you know what the problem is? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 14:07, 26 May 2013 (EDT)

Can you explain what exactly it should do? The link is made but for some reason, the punctuation after the link doesn't work. I am unsure as to why this is. Also, I have no idea why the spacing is so large between the points. I'm looking into this but am unsure whether I can fix it. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 09:25, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Oh, never mind. Think I fixed it. The enter space between the link and the noinclude tags was causing the problems. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 09:26, 27 May 2013 (EDT)

Differentiate from Simpsons Wikia[edit]

I have an idea, I think articles that are written too similar to how it's written on Simpsons Wikia has to be rewritten so the two wikis can be entirely different. Gazlene the Pork Girl 18:46, 26 May 2013 (EDT)

Some articles are similar as we were originally the same wiki. If articles can be worded better, then we can do that. If the articles are worded as best as possible, don't bother changing to make it worse. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 03:39, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Sometimes the Simpsons Wikia editor's copy content, here from Wikisimpsons, over to their corrupt wiki. 'Nuff said. --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 05:34, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Yeah, but for articles like Bart Simpson and the like, articles which have been around since the beginning, the article wording will be very similar. However, if you notice similar articles which were created here at a time after the split in November 2011, you should report them to me and I'll report them to the admins there. We have a mutual understanding that we do not steal content from each other. If I ever found someone stealing content from Simpsons Wikia and adding it here, I would take action against it. SolarDragonName.png (Talk - Contribs.) 06:23, 27 May 2013 (EDT)
Okay, this is kinda important, but I lost my password for my account. Could you please help out with this issue or can I please create another account or such? -Gazlene the Pork Girl
Will do, Solar. --Fred (Talk Contribs. Editcount) 00:55, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
Can you don't use, Gazlene? http://simpsonswiki.net/wiki/Special:PasswordReset /AleWi 02:08, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
Never mind. I found out the password. Must've misspelled it. Gazlene the Pork Girl 11:22, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
I have another question, could you please add a gallery to the tab template? Galleries exist on many wikis, including Wikia, Super Mario Wiki. Even Simpsons Wikia has a gallery on their tab. I understand the categories (e.g. Category:Images - Bart the Genius) act as a gallery, but I think there needs to be an area to place all of these images, rather than random articles. I'd love to have a gallery added to the tab. I'd really appreciate it. Gazlene the Pork Girl 14:19, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
No, we don't need a gallery tab as we have the categories. Also, if we just add a gallery tab, we would have people uploading stupid random images. We tried to have a framegrab tab at one point but decided against it after a while. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 14:39, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
Okay. Gazlene the Pork Girl 14:41, 28 May 2013 (EDT)
Would it be okay to make a gallery userpage subpage? Gazlene the Pork Girl 17:14, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
Yes, as long as you keep within the limits of our policy, Wikisimpsons:Images#User spaces. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 17:17, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
Up to three personal images. That means images not related to official The Simpsons merchandise or the TV show, correct? My user subpages will only focus on Simpsons-related stuff (not fanon). Gazlene the Pork Girl 17:42, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
No, it means up to three images that are only used in your user space allowed. Even if they are Simpsons-related. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 17:45, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
By the way, I also noticed it said "kids may visit this site" on the images link you sent me. The Simpsons isn't a kids television series. It's more of a teenager and adult program. I'd rather it say sensitive viewers or readers. I don't know, I think it's worded better. Thanks for your help :). Gazlene the Pork Girl 17:49, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
Okay, my last question related to images is why does this sub-userpage use more than three images. Gazlene the Pork Girl 17:58, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
Articles that could become or are planned to become part of the mainspace are exempt from the userspace rules. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 18:01, 8 June 2013 (EDT)

Table[edit]

I think this has been raised before, but why won't external links work in the Table template? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:22, 30 May 2013 (EDT)

We don't know. Use the {{Plainlink}} template to get around the issue though. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 12:26, 30 May 2013 (EDT)

TSTO[edit]

Outerhaven from the Proboards TO forum created this website. And here he's uploaded the images of the characters on each of their unlock screens (pretty hard to say, that!) Should we replace some of the character images on the wiki with those from the unlock screens? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:39, 5 June 2013 (EDT)

Oh, wow. That's pretty cool. I'd say yes to that, but credit the website obviously, in the summary. The Solar Dragon 12:42, 5 June 2013 (EDT)
Also, we could replace some character images with these images as these are official art. The Solar Dragon 12:43, 5 June 2013 (EDT)
Feel free to use any images from the website here, the credit is nice as there is lot of people copying the work I put in and spAnser, and others recently, without crediting. Outerhaven 17:44, 6 June 2013 (EDT)
You may delete this after, but the Donut Icon and Title of the Game in PNG format are located at the following, if of any use. http://www.tstappedout.com/donut.png / http://www.tstappedout.com/tsto.png Outerhaven 17:49, 6 June 2013 (EDT)
Hi, thanks for visiting. You're welcome. We generally like to credit our image sources as we know it can be frustrating if someone takes images from your website without crediting you. ☆The Solar Dragon☆ 17:50, 6 June 2013 (EDT)

Tapped Out portal[edit]

With the rising popularity of Tapped Out, I think it's possible we could have a game portal. I drew up a one here. Is it possible that this portal could exist on the main wiki, similar to the Comics portal, or not? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 12:54, 6 June 2013 (EDT)

Yeah, could do then. The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.) 13:13, 6 June 2013 (EDT)
Just wondering, should the nom page for featured char or building have a proper article or stay a sub-page of the portal? Personally, I believe it should be the latter, because the nomination pages are for characters and buildings in Tapped Out, and if we use the format of the usual nom pages for the featured char or building, it'll be like choosing a second featured article for the wiki. So, what do you think? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 04:58, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
TBH, I don't think we should have nominations. Just choose one yourself. Solar Dragon (Talk Contribs.) 05:09, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
I also think we can't vote on that./AleWi 05:14, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
So, I choose the featured char or building, but there will be nom pages for the image and quote? ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 06:10, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
You just have to think about how many people will actually nominate and vote. If you think enough will, then make nomination pages. Else, don't bother. ☆The Solar Dragon (Talk - Contribs.)☆ 06:12, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
I think I'll run a test period for a couple of weeks to see if the portal gathers attention and nominations for image and quote. If not, then I'll abandon the nom pages and choose one myself. ~ Phinbart (talkcontribs) 06:15, 8 June 2013 (EDT)
