- Lucky Lindy's Pomade is a reference to the plane Spirit of St. Louis. American aviator Charles Lindbergh, nicknamed "Luck Lindy", flew the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from Long Island, New York, to Paris, France.
- The Larry Davis Dance Kings play the jazz song "Embraceable You" while Abe and Bea sing.
- Herman thought Abe meant the battleship USS New Jersey when he was talking about a "lady's" birthday.
- Herman refers to the French expedition to Sardinia when he was trying to sell "Napoleon's hat".
- According to Herman, there is a Gatling gun under the counter.
- When the Discount Lion Safari employee scares away the lions with a shotgun, he says "Mr. Simpson, I presume?". This is a reference to "Dr. Livingstone, I presume?", a famous greeting said Henry Morton Stanley upon locating David Livingstone in Ujiji, Tanzania in 1871.
- Herman sells Abe's hat as "The hat McKinley was shot in", a reference to former US president William McKinley, who was assasinated in September, 1901.
- According to a sign at the entrance, Diz-Nee-Land is "not affiliated with Disneyland, Disney World, or anything else from the Walt Disney Company.
- Darth Vader and The Joker can be seen waiting in line as a candidate for Grampa donating his money.
- Dr. Marvin Monroe's "Monroe Box" is a spoofing of B. F. Skinner's controversial "Skinner Box."
- The Retirement Castle administrator's nose is not properly drawn on the scene where Abe meets Bea. Just as they discover they have each others pills, he can be seen as soon as the camera zooms out.
- Once Grampa acquires the fez from Herman's Military Antiques, he is seen wearing it for the remainder of the entire episode.
- Although this episode centers largely on Bea's death, at the end of the episode when Abe announces it is time for dinner in the new Beatrice Simmons Memorial Dining Hall and the residents file in, Bea can be seen among them.
- When Kent Brockman is walking past the people outside the Springfield Retirement Home, Mayor Quimby has blonde hair instead of his dark hair.
- Bea's hair is usually gray, but it is blue during the scene when she and Grandpa are dancing.
