Abraham Simpson uses the pomade as a styling aid on his hair. He also tries to use some before his date with Beatrice Simmons, but he has ran out of the product.

Lucky Lindy is the nickname of aviator Charles Lindbergh. The slogan makes a word pun on fly, alluding to Charles Lindbergh's career of aviation.
