"The Man Who Flew Too Much" is the twelth episode of season 36 of The Simpsons and the seven-hundred and eightieth episode overall. It originally aired on December 22, 2024. The episode was written by Al Jean and directed by Steven Dean Moore. It guest stars Glenn Close as Mona Simpson.
Synopsis
- "The new and improved Pin Pals travel to Capital City for their first ever state bowling championship."
Plot
After dreaming about bowling at Bowlarama, Homer wakes up exclaiming it's today, referring to the Pin Pals making it to the state championship. The picture on the news shows that Barney and Lenny were replaced by Fausto and Ned Flanders. They even get a celebration with Mayor Quimby with a band in the central plaza, showing them how the whole town is proud of them. After saying goodbye to friends and family, the team departs on a helicopter, piloted by Barney.
Suddenly, while nearning a mountain peak, a overweight buzz starts buzzing, due to everyone packing extra and after a short while they crash on the mountain. Marge is getting worried over not hearing anything, while Fausto is unconscious, being carried by Ned as Jesus carried his cross. While they were descending, Moe gets a call on his phone by Bart and identifies him as his pranker and, after insulting him, throws the phone far away down the mountain, the only phone with service.
The family keeps trying to call them but fail, then resort to cheer up a bit by decorating the house for Christmas, in October. Meanwhile, Carl almost falls into a deep hole, and they start hallucinating when they throw the balls into the hole and hear sounds of pins behing hit. The hike down continues as Fausto starts to regainin consciousness, before dying. They start getting worse, with Moe proposing cannibalism too before losing consciousness themself.
While Patty and Selma gets home to have some wierd conversations on Homer's death to Marge, Homer hallucinates his mother in hell, while Marge starts cooking his favourite dishes. The smell from them reaches Homer and gives him the power to free himself from the snow and save the others with a rope. At the church, they're holding the funerals, but after Reverend Lovejoy talks about Homer being not the best church person, he shows up carrying all the others and he's celebrated. When everybody left, Fausto shows up to the church alive.
