Synopsis[edit]
- Homer gets Superintendent Chalmers a job at the power plant. There, Chalmers discovers huge mutated snails that produce valuable slime launching his new career as a man-o-sphere guru.
Plot[edit]
Bart takes home an A for once when Lisa reveals that the homework was written using AI, CheatGPT, starting an argument between them. Homer and Marge don't care because Bart finally got an A and, after being prompted by Lisa, Homer uses CheatGPT to lecture Bart about the negatives of using AI. In the teacher's lounge, the teachers ask Principal Skinner to do something about the use of AI for homework, and they purchase AI detection software, Teacher's Net. A group of students works to get around the detection software, with Skinner trying to stop them. Skinner eventually invokes the "banana option," where all homework assignments include invisible text telling the AI to insert the word "banana" randomly into the text. Because of this, the students retaliate by filling the teacher's lounge with bananas.
Seeing this, Superintendent Chalmers announces the school has become a phone-free school. To get back at Chalmers, the students send a tip to State Comptroller Atkins claiming that Chalmers plagiarized his Ogdenville State University thesis, and Atkins fires him. He goes to Moe's to lament and tell his story, and Homer offers to get him a job at the Power Plant, where he starts working as a janitor. However, when Homer tells him to relax and be lazy at work, he gets caught by Mr. Burns and is sent by Smithers to clean up the tunnels beneath the cooling towers.
Chalmers gets to work cleaning the tunnels while complaining about Burns and Smithers. He then notices some giant snails that live in the tunnel, who cover him in mucin. When he gets home, Shauna notices how the snail mucin makes him look amazing. This gives Chalmers an idea, and he proposes a business plan to monetize the snail mucin to Mr. Burns. Chalmers becomes the CEO of Escarbro, a skincare company aimed at men. Following the founding of his company, Chalmers becomes rich and famous, appearing on magazines and podcasts. Meanwhile, the Power Plant employees are moved to caring for the snails.
At a party for Escarbro, Chalmers meets other business owners who compliment him on his website, in particular the hard-to-find cancel subscription button, which Chalmers didn't know about. At his new mansion, he talks to Shauna about his company, and Shauna reveals that high schoolers are using his products, despite the company not marketing to high school kids. Chalmers then goes to give a speech at Springfield Elementary about his company and finds the kids there obsessively using his products. Horrified at this, Chalmers changes his speech to tell the students that they should have been taught to stay away from predatory businesses like his. Chalmers then reveals that he has bought Springfield Elementary on MeBay and is reinstating himself as Superintendent. He then bans all skincare products on school grounds.
Skinner gets a job as a janitor at Escarbro at the Power Plant, where the employees bring Chippos and Duff Beer for the snails, who then all die. The employees flee, leaving Skinner to clean up the mess.
