Homer is dressing for the 35th annual Springie Awards, and has trouble with his neck button, swallowing it, when
Marge saves him using the
Heimlich maneuver, then
Grampa shows up, dressed for his funeral, but is informed they're not attending his funeral.
At the Awards, several Springfielders are presented and take photos of on the carpet. Duffman is presenting the show, presenting the Duff Lite, followed by Quimby sponsoring the Springfield Academy Museum, and then Duffman presents a memoriam for Hans Moleman, which is actually still alive (despite his previous multiple decipted deaths). Ned Flanders is then awarded the Springfield's Nicest Person Award.
Next, the Best Sailboat Painting awards goes to Sideshow Mel, the same painting the Simpson family has, and Mel tells them that he won because the one they have is askew. The final one is the Most Underappreciated Person award, which goes to Marge. But it's just revealed that it was all a dream, that Marge has in bed holding one of the springs coming out of it.
She wanted to continue the dream, but reality kicks in as the family annoys her more, her mother tells her that it's worse when she visits her and Santa's Little Helper has developed Dogzheimer's, Bart broke his fingers at the baseball game, and then Homer doesn't answer her messages and calls for help on the phone because Moe disrupted the phone service at the Tavern.
Homer gets back home drunk and with his pants ripped apart, and Marge is very angry. Later, while watching Trash for Cash, she's much stressed but finds out she can bid Homer's pants for lots of money, so she lies to Homer about not being able to fix the pants and hides them in her hair. Homer wears swatpants going at work, while Marge goes to The Haber-Cashery to sell the pants.
There, she meets the owner, Collectible Pants Dude, cousin of Comic Book Guy, and he tries to scam her, but with her telling him she saw an offer for them for $3,000 on EBay, he offers her $2,595. At the Power Plant, Mr. Burns almost causes a Demon core incident, but Homer saves them all with his new sweatpants, moving faster than others, and recieves tickets to a baseball game.
Marge arrives at Abercrombie & Rich, but is not happy. After giving some money to the church, she tries to call Homer, but gets angry at not being invited to the baseball game, and changes idea on telling him about the money. Her next destination is Spiffany's.
