Synopsis[edit]
- "The new and improved Pin Pals travel to Capital City for their first ever state bowling championship."
Plot[edit]
After a montage of bowling games at Barney's Bowlarama, Homer wakes up, exclaiming that it's today, referring to the Pin Pals making it to the state championship. The picture on the news shows that Barney and Lenny were replaced by Fausto and Ned Flanders. They even get a celebration with Mayor Quimby and a band in the central plaza, showing how proud the whole town is of them. After saying goodbye to friends and family, the team departs on a helicopter, piloted by Barney.
Suddenly, while nearing a mountain peak, an overweight buzz starts buzzing due to everyone packing extra. After a short while, they crash on the mountain. Marge gets worried over not hearing anything, while Fausto is unconscious, carried by Ned as Jesus carried his cross. While they descend, Moe gets a call on his phone from Bart and identifies him as his pranker. After insulting him, Moe throws the phone far away down the mountain, the only phone with service.
The family keeps trying to call them but fails, then resorts to cheering up a bit by decorating the house for Christmas in October. Meanwhile, Carl almost falls into a deep hole, and they start hallucinating when they throw the balls into the hole and hear the sounds of pins being hit. The hike down continues as Fausto starts to regain consciousness before dying. They start getting worse, with Moe proposing cannibalism before losing consciousness.
While Patty and Selma get home and have some weird conversations with Marge about Homer's death, Homer hallucinates his mother in hell, while Marge starts cooking his favorite dishes. The smell from them reaches Homer, giving him the power to free himself from the snow and save the others with a rope. At the church, they're holding the funerals, but after Reverend Lovejoy talks about Homer not being the best church person, he shows up carrying all the others, and he's celebrated. When everybody leaves, Fausto shows up at the church alive.
Production[edit]
Chris Edgerly provides the voice of Rod Flanders in this episode, following the retirement of Pamela Hayden.[1]
