- Stan Lee says that his "Spidey sense is tingling", a reference to Spider-Man and one of his catchphrases.
- When Stan Lee insults Comic Book Guy, Comic Book Guy says that in Bizarro World that means Stan Lee likes him.
- When Bart is trying to come up with an idea for a comic book, he sees:
- A bat, and thinks of Batman.
- A green lantern, and thinks of the Green Lantern.
- Marge then mentions Little Dot and asks if he could rip that off.
- Homer sees an advert for a TV show called When Dinosaurs Get Drunk, a parody of When Animals Attack!.
- After the When Dinosaurs Get Drunk ad, a program called The Boring World of Niels Bohr comes on. The opening image is of the scientist himself, and an expanded version of the Bohr model of the atom.
- Comic Book Guy calls Bart's pencilling "sub-Ziggy".
- Stan Lee shoves a figure of The Thing into Database's Batmobile toy.
- After breaking Database's Batmobile, Stan Lee starts to hum the "Spider-Man" theme song.

However, bells for fire alarms are more commonly found in Canada.
