Luigi's Pizza is a fast-food pizza restaurant located on Springfield's Fast-Food Boulevard and is a branch of Luigi's. It was destroyed in a bizarre explosion caused by Homer Simpson.

History[edit]

Homer took a drive down Fast-Food Boulevard for a junk food binge just before starting a new diet. Among the foods he ate was a dish he crafted himself: a pizza from Luigi's Pizza, sprinkled with fries from Krusty Burger and topped off with a lobster, apparently from Dead Lobster. After putting in the lobster, Homer closed the pizza box, shook it and devoured the whole thing, box and all.

During his stop at Krusty Burger, Homer was enthralled by a talking wastebasket in the drive-thru and took the opportunity to get rid of all the accumulated trash in his car. Among the items he disposed of was a leaky car battery. Acid from the battery seeped into the ground and dripped onto an underground gas main, eating a hole in the pipe and causing a gas leak. After Homer finished throwing out his trash, he lit a cigar and tossed the lit match into the wastebasket, igniting the leaking gas and triggering a chain-reaction series of explosions that destroyed every restaurant on Fast-Food Boulevard, including Luigi's Pizza.[1]

Prior to its destruction at Homer's hands, Luigi's Pizza evidently enjoyed a long history of doing business in Springfield. A scrapbook belonging to Marge had many photos from her high school years. Among them were several pictures of her and Homer on a date and having a Luigi's pizza.[2]
