- Rick Steves shows to Homer his book, Best of Dream World, referencing his series of travel books.
- Rick asks Homer if he has donated to PBS this year.
- One of the stories on Kwirky Korners with Kent Brockman was about a spaniel who had predicted every Super Bowl wrong.
- The song "Challengers: Match Point" by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, and part of the tennis-film Challengers, is heard when the elders play noodleball. The song is heard again during the professional match.
- Noodleball shares some similarities with pickleball, including its name, backyard origins, and rapid growth especially in the United States. Its style of play, however, is more similar to that of padel, another fast-growing racket sport.
