Cultural references
- "Life's a glitch, then you die" is a reference to the phrase "Life's a bitch, then you die."
- Moe's phone call was a reference to the movie Scream referring to having a poor excuse for a plot hole.
- "Clobber Girl" is a parody of "Clabber Girl" brand of baking powder.
- Personages waiting in line for the exodus spaceship named by Lisa are Bill Gates, Stephen Hawking, Michael Jordan, Paul McCartney, Michelle Kwan. Also present in line and not named by Lisa are Jimmy Carter, Ron Howard, Merl Reagle, Mark McGwire.
- Homer tells the guard of the rocket that he is the piano genius from the movie Shine and that his name is Shiney McShine (the name he should have used is David Helfgott).
- The first part of this episode is a parody of the 1997 film I Know What You Did Last Summer.
- The third segment parodied the Y2K panic as well as When Worlds Collide.

- The episode was released on The Simpsons.com with the "Itchy & Scratchy Land", "Das Bus" and "Homer Goes to College". According to the eBay information it has, "Homer to the Max" was on it, but in real life, "Homer to the Max" was not included on it all.
