  • The episode's title is a pun on the 1975 movie Three Days of the Condor.
  • While searching for the missing puzzle piece, Homer says "Puzzle piece, come out and play-ay!", a parody of a line from The Warriors.
  • "Weird Al" Yankovic's song Homer & Marge is a parody of John Mellencamp's song Jack & Diane.
  • Jay and Silent Bob: Homer calls Maggie "Silent Bob".
  • I Love Lucy: On Homer's first morning in Grady's and Julio's apartment, Grady prepares breakfast for the three of them and Julio sharply criticizes it: "Where'd you buy this? From the guy on the exit ramp? Disgusting." Homer quickly comes to Grady's defense, shutting Julio down by saying, "Calm down, Picky Ricardo", a wordplay on Ricky Ricardo.
