Cultural references[edit]
- The title of this episode is a play on the 1994 film Sister My Sister.
- Lisa and Janey are reading one of the The Babysitter Twins books which are parodies of the children's book series The Baby-Sitters Club.
- Ned Flanders says he has a "fozzie of a bear of a problem" is a reference to the Muppets character.
- Chief Wiggum mistakenly bought tickets for Bob Saget, a stand-up comedian, instead of Bob Seger, a rock singer-songwriter.
- Store front along the new Springfield Squidport are parodies of real ones:
- It's a Wonderful Knife for It's a Wonderful Life.
- Much Ado About Muffins! for Much Ado About Nothing.
- Malaria Zone is Banana Republic (older store design)
- Turban Outfitters Urban Outfitters.
- The Itchy & Scratchy Store for The Disney Store.
- Planet Hype for Planet Hollywood.
Trivia[edit]
- Bart mentions that he is "two years and thirty-eight days" older than Lisa. In "Simpsorama", Bart states that his birthday is February 23rd which would place Lisa's birthday on April 2nd. However, in "Lisa's First Word", we see that Marge gives birth to Lisa during the 1984 Summer Olympic Games which took place between July 28th and August 12th.
Goofs[edit]
- Jonathan Frink can be seen in Dr. Nick's Walk-In Clinic; then he's at the Springfield Squidport.
- At church, in the faraway shot the man sitting behind Homer is layered in front of his head instead of behind it. Also the man behind Bart has 1 arm and the person next to Agnes Skinner is not Principal Skinner he's an imposter.
- When Lisa unfolds the game board at the Flanders' house her leg briefly disappears.
- In the same scene, an orange piece of path in the gameboard briefly turns green.
- A man at the doctor's office has a moustache colored yellow like his skin instead of brown like his hair.
- Some of Snake's blood disappears for a frame.
- When Chief Wiggum and Sarah leave the house, Sarah's legs and feet aren't drawn.
