Cultural references[edit]
- The name of the episode is a reference to Road to ... film series starring Bing Crosby and Bob Hope.
- Superintendent Chalmers was to give his keynote speech in the Procter & Gamble room.
- A sign on the bulletin board in the staff lounge reads "Netflix/Hulu Password Swap".
- Principal Finch knows somebody in Cincinnati that supports the Bengals, the American football team from that city.
- Skinner saw Finch's story on Instasnap, a play on Instagram and Snapchat.
- Air Cincinnati's plane has the colors of the Bengals.
- The movie Game Night plays on the plane. Jason Bateman reprised his role as one of the main characters, Max Davis.
- Skinner also mentions him and his role on the plane to Superintendent Chalmers.
- Agnes Skinner owns a Buick automobile.
- "Timothy" by The Buoys plays in the car.
- Skinner is reading The Lonely Person: Guide to Cincinnati, a parody of the Lonely Planet guide book publisher.
- While reading, he is surprised to find that in Cincinnati there are various of preparing chili. He is referring to the Cincinnati chili, where every "way" adds a new topping.
- References to Shakespeare from the improvisers include:
- Greg vocalizes "Greensleeves", a traditional English folk song. The song was mentioned in Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor.
- The girl with glasses says "Toupee or not toupee", a play on the famous speech "To be, or not to be" given by Prince Hamlet.
- When they are about to collide with a truck, Greg says "Beware the ides of... Truck!". This is a reference to the phrase "Beware the Ides of March" that appears in the play Julius Caesar.
- Greg makes a reference to Yorick, an unseen character from Hamlet. The original phrase from the play is "Alas, poor Yorick!", which Greg changes to "Alas, poor Buick", referring to the car.
- J.T. Winchester mentions Lifetime Movies.
- The judge's car is a Cutlass.

- "Hells Peloton" is a parody of Hells Angels motorcycle gang.

Goofs[edit]
- Chalmers is shown to have the fear of flight, though in "Livin La Pura Vida" he was fine.
- Sugar cubes change color between white and brown between scenes.
- Both Mr. Largo and a resident of the Springfield Retirement Castle are seem in the dining room at the Tuckernuck Inn, despite the inn being away from Springfield.
