"Panic on the Streets of Springfield" is the nineteenth episode of season 32 of The Simpsons and the seven hundred and third episode overall. It originally aired on April 18, 2021. The episode was written by Tim Long and directed by Matthew Nastuk. It guest stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Quilloughby.

"Panic on the Streets of Springfield" was dedicated in memory of Edwin E. Aguilar, who died on April 10.

Synopsis

"Lisa gets an imaginary friend - a depressed British singer from the 1980s (Guest Voice Star Benedict Cumberbatch), - who makes her feel much better about her friends. Meanwhile, Homer gets a vehicle with awesome torque and becomes a truck guy."

Production

The music is written by Benedict Cumberbatch and Bret McKenzie.^[1]

In an early cut, the Homer physical was MUCH more graphic, and included a POV shot of Homer's butthole.^[2]

Some rejected names for Vico-Dude were "Guy-agra" and "Daderall".^[3]

An extended cut was made available, after the episode aired, in streaming on Hulu, with an extended version of Everyone Is Horrid Except Me (And Possibly You). ^[4]^[5]
