Synopsis[edit]
- "When Homer's court case determines that a dog's life is more valuable than a human's is, the status of man's best friend rises in Springfield. When the dogs recognize their new position of power, they assert their dominance over the humans."
Plot[edit]
Returning home after his shift at the Power Plant, with the uranium bar in his back, Homer finds himself stuck in the traffic. Using EZcape, he manages to get off the traffic, but finds himself in a garbage alley.
His brakes are malfunctioning, and he has to choose between hitting Santa's Little Helper or Gil to pass. He chooses Gil and the app uninstalls itself. At the insurance adjuster, they find out that if Gil sues, he'll end up with everything the family got.
The family goes to Springfield Hospital to visit him and couldn't make him desist from sueing them. At the Court House, Maxwell Flinch is defending Homer again, and they win, with the jury loving the stories of the dogs, while Gil was diminishing them lower than humans.
Everyone is loving Santa's Little Helper for what happened at the court house, and Mayor Quimby elected Springfield to be named "dog loving capital of the world" and the whole town is overrun by dogs, including all shops.
As Lionel Budgie predicted, the dogs however start revolting and have gone savage. On the way back from Moe's Tavern, Homer is attacked by dogs. He makes it home, but Santa's Little Helper runs away too.
At the Town Hall, Gil offers himself to get Springfield back to normal. Meanwhile, Bart and Lisa, to find Santa's Little Helper, asks the help of Crazy Cat Lady, and they venture themselves in the Springfield Dog Park.
They get surrounded by dogs, but Marge comes in to save them, kicking out the alpha dog, Milhouse's chihuahua Taquito. Gil comes in but he's too late. Marge gives the dogs back to their owners, including Santa's Little Helper. At the end, Gil finds Milhouse's chihuahua and takes it with him.
Production[edit]
There was supposed to be a scene in which Lisa meets Milhouse's pet dog, Taquito, a rabid chihuahua who tries to kill her. She tries to fend him off by speaking Spanish to the dog, saying "Sé lo que ser hombrecito un perro de vueltas si una vuelta. A qué le gusta agua fresca? A ti te gusta agua fresca?" (The first sentence makes no sense in Spanish). The scene is a deleted scene as it wasn't included in the episode.[1]
The couch gag was released as a promo image for the Season 26 episode "The Kids Are All Fight", before appearing in this episode. The episode was originally going to use that couch gag, but according to Al Jean's twitter, it was too short, so The Game of Life couch gag from season 25's "Pay Pal" was reused.[2]
