The Final Collision is a Bartman comic story first printed in Bartman #3. It is the final part of a three part story, preceded by Labor Pains and When Bongos Collide!.

Synopsis[edit]

"Bartman works to save Springfield with the help of Radioactive Man after everyone in town gets superpowers."

Plot[edit]

Bartman is on Kang and Kodos' UFO after they capture him. Kang and Kodos reveal that they are the ones who brought Itchy and Scratchy to life because they are obsessed with the characters. However, the Rigelians did not anticipate Itchy and Scratchy blowing up the power plant and turning all of Springfield's citizens into super-powered hooligans. When Bartman is left in a cell, he calls for Milhouse to come and help him. Milhouse, now The Scarlet Whimpernel, decides against it as he wants to be a lone avenger. Bartman runs on the giant hamster wheel in his cell until it crashes through the wall, allowing him to escape with the device that Kang and Kodos used to bring Itchy and Scratchy to life.

Back at home, Bartman tries to use the device on the black-and-white Radioactive Man serial. However, since the characters were played by actors, they think they are still actors and just leave without helping. Bartman then goes up to his room, where he finds his Radioactive Man comic and uses Homer's old video camera to record it to the television so that the device would bring the comic's Radioactive Man to life. This works, and after Bartman explains to Radioactive Man what is happening, the superhero decides to aid him.

At the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, The Mighty Smiter is fighting off the Fission Division when Radioactive Man arrives to stop him and the other superheroes. However, other superheroes show up, and there are too many for the pair to handle on their own. Things get worse when they are attacked by The Mirror Maidens, The Jokester, The MudSlinger, The Sequelizer, and Vampiredna. After fending off their attackers, Bartman and Radioactive Man try to come up with a plan but can’t think of anything. Bartman then finds Ned Flanders' video camera and discovers footage from before the power plant explosion. He gets an idea, and he and Radioactive Man go back to his home.

Back at home, Bartman finishes hooking up a device while Radioactive Man returns with a hyper-spatial flux drive from Kang and Kodos' UFO. After plugging the device in, Bartman goes to start it, but Kang and Kodos destroy the wall of the house and come through, revealing that Bartman's device would have destroyed the planet because Radioactive Man actually brought back a molecular destabilizer instead. The Rigelians then reveal that they have the flux drive and shoot Radioactive Man. Before they can shoot Bartman, The Scarlet Whimpernel screams at them, killing them. Radioactive Man is revealed to be okay, and they finish building the time reset device. As they prepare to use the device, Itchy drops a bomb with Scratchy tied to it toward the Simpson house. Bartman reveals to Radioactive Man that Maggie became BrainBaby and was telepathically communicating all her ideas to him, which is how he came up with the plan for the time reset machine. Bartman then activates the machine and travels back in time to before Itchy and Scratchy became real.

Bart, Lisa, and Maggie are watching television together when Kang and Kodos' UFO crashes into the antenna on the roof, disrupting the episode of Itchy & Scratchy they are watching. While Lisa panics about fixing the television, Bart decides to just turn it off before Kang and Kodos can hit the television with their machine. Their plan fails, and Kang and Kodos leave Earth, leaving Lisa surprised by Bart's actions. Meanwhile, at Krustyland, the Scratchy mascot is fired for his story about being abducted by aliens.
