- This episode marks the first appearance of the Crazy Cat Lady.
- Bart mispronounces Kearney's name on air (instead of saying "kur-nee", he pronounces it the way it's spelled), suggesting that he is reading from cue cards and that the news broadcast is live and open to errors.
- Syndication shortens the scene where Nelson makes flatulent sounds with his armpit on camera, then switches cameras to continue making the sounds.
- When Marge complains about Mojo's health, Homer says, "What do you want? His cholesterol's through the roof." The closed captioning keeps the latter, but replaces, "What do you want?" with "Give him a break, Marge".

- The episode title is a pun on the TV series Early Edition.
- Mojo's name is a possible reference to Mojo Jojo from "The Powerpuff Girls".
- The appearances of the Choco-bots seem to be based on the Transformers, while their power up sequence is based on the Power Rangers.
- When Kent Brockman is on the carousel, "Turn Turn Turn" by the Byrds plays.
- "Where Have All the Flowers Gone?" by The Kingston Trio plays during the "Bart's People" segment.

Mojo's arm
- When Bart was pounding on the door of Willie's shack, the colors of his shoes are reversed.
- When Apu's monkey first sticks his hand out from behind the cash register, there is a wide gap between the register and his arm, making it look detached from his body.
- At the Veterans Of Popular Wars Hall, Jasper Beardly's sleeve turns from green to gray for a frame.
Continuity
- Clips of Bart in an anchorman's chair taken from this episode were reused 4/2/06 during the original airing of the episode "Million-Dollar Abie" to announce the upcoming film The Simpsons Movie.
- Lisa mentions that she and Nelson used to date, and that is part of the reason he was part of the Kidz Newz team.
