Synopsis
- "After a fight in an escape room, Krusty's truth-telling Aunt fixes Homer's relationship with Patty and Selma.[1]"
Plot
For Patty and Selma's birthday, the Simpsons family goes to Fun Once Escape Rooms for a puzzle party. Squeaky-voiced teen tells them they can use a hint system but Selma informs him they won't need it. While Jeremy closes the door, Bart excapes through the door and the countdown of one hour starts. Immediately, Homer uses two hints, for how to open a painted door and how to insult the sisters, angering them as he broke their streak and they start fighting. Marge separates them.
Meanwhile, Krusty's aunt, Sadie, visits him to join Sideshow Mel's podcast, which Krusty had no idea it was a thing. AT Earmoose Studios, Mel is recording Talking Krusty: the Official Rewatch Podcast with Wayne the Grip and Jodie from props. Krusty and Sadie barge in and his aunt suggests him to join the podcast with his friends from work.
At the escape room, the timer was almost over, and the search for the keys failed, so they asked for a hint and Jeremy tells them that Homer had been using it to scratch his butt for the last 20 minutes and the timer was over and they failed and died. A fight starts again, and they break the walls behind them, where the Flanders were playing.
Meanwhile, Sadie makes Krusty realize how he has never interacted with his own coworkers and how he'll die alone. At The Ugh! Network, Lindsey Naegle is listening to the podcast and gets the idea to create a show with her, The Problem Is You, starting with the Hibbert family. At home, Homer is cleaning up some board games. Lisa tries to convince Homer to make peace with the sisters, but he disagrees, so Marge texts them with a message about an injury, which she said was just to get them there but she also says she did injure herself, to tell them about someone who can solve their problems, Sadie.
They tell the story of how it all started, at Marge's baby shower, where they fought over Marge's favourite cake, chocolate or carrot, and Marge ends up revealing it's really vanilla. The fight continues on the couch but Sadie separates them, before pointing out that Marge is the problem as she keeps them separated so she can be the martyr while they continue fighting. At that point Marge pushes the crew all out of the door to not face this fact. Outside, as the crew prepares to leave, Krusty admits to Wayne how he would like to join them as the line between the "talent" and the crew is meaningless, and Wayne invites him to a crowfish boil with the others.
At night, Homer starts to wonder if her words were true, that he could be friends with them if not for Marge, and in the morning arranges a meeting with them at Springfield Squidport and takes them to Moe's, where Moe gets in love with them. They all agree over a beer, and start making friendly jokes to each other, go bowling, go see a movie, and do another, but this time successfull, escape room. But on the way out, they meet Marge and the kids, and Marge finds out she's the problem, getting conforted by Lisa and Bart.
At the boil, Krusty arrives but after being introduced to the people, in a second he throws a rugby ball to a pot on a fire and create chaos, before creating even more chaos and injures himself with a bike. At the season finale of the show, all families reunite, and Marge gets more and more stressed as they point out she was the problem, though they then continue to point out their weirdness.
As they keep at it, they regret to fighting and Sadie tries to stop them but Marge points out that you can't fix a problem with a catchphrase in 30 minutes for what can require years, and the other couples start fighting too. In the end, Krusty however doesn't get the point thinking he's not the problem, when it clearly was, and when everyone starts leaving, Gunter unties the rope holding the show's sign which falls on a still screaming Sadie, killing her. At the funeral, Krusty keeps acting superior to which Jimmy flicks him in the knee, setting him back.
