- The X-ray specs can't see through lead, just like Superman.
- The Springsonian Museum is named after the Smithsonian Institute.
- Comic Book Guy asking Lisa three questions is a nod to a scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
- The military base Area 51-A is a reference to Area 51.
