Springfield International Airport is the primary airport serving Springfield. The airport is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is also a private bar for pilots only called The Little Black Box.

Then he was sent to take charge of a flight to Chicago-O'Hare (although he didn't know how to fly a plane). When he got into the Air Springfield Boeing 707 (or Douglas DC-10, possibly an Airbus A340-600), he accidently raised the landing gear while parked on the apron. There were a few minor injuries.
- There was also another incident in Fear of Flying. An Air Springfield Boeing 707 (or a McDonnell Douglas DC-10, possibly an Airbus A340-600) over-ran the runway and ended up in the water. There were no fatalities.
- Springfield mayor Joe Quimby attempted to hijack a Boeing 747.
