Rhode Island is the smallest state by area. The capital and most populous city is Providence.

History

Lenny points out Moe's liquor license is only good in Rhode Island. Moe claims "I've been meaning to get that updated, uh, for this state".[1]

Homer's mother learns that there is such a thing as clam chowder Rhode Island-style.[2]

After getting run out of Florida, the Simpson family was trying to decide on where to go for their next vacation. They were looking at a map of the US that had most of states crossed out, which were apparently all the states that the Simpsons were no longer allowed to enter.[3]
