Detroit is the largest city in Michigan and is best known for being the traditional center of the American automotive industry.
History[edit]
Homer Simpson learned that he had an elder half-brother named Herbert Powell, and that Herb lived in Detroit. When Homer contacted Herb via telephone, Herb invited Homer and his family to come visit him.
When the Simpsons arrived in Detroit, they learned that Herb was rich and owned his own car company, Powell Motors. During their visit, Herb invited Homer to design a new car, named The Homer. Unfortunately, the car proved to be unsellable, which resulted in Powell Motors going out of business.[1]
The family who used live 740 Evergreen Terrace, moved to Detroit because of budget cuts.[2]
When sneaking back into the USA from Canada, the Simpsons went in through Detroit because it's the one place where there's always plenty of room.[3]
