Cultural references[edit]
- The title screen gag is a reference to the discontinuation of the Space Shuttle in 2011.
- The plot to the episode is similar to the plot of The Red Violin.
- Lisa mentions that Milhouse wears a Finding Nemo back brace.
- During the "King of Persia" portion of the episode, the Scheherazade (portrayed by Lisa) is costumed as Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie.
