The Willful Will!! is a Bart Simpson story first printed in Bart Simpson #24. It is part of The Maggie & Moe Mysteries! series.
Synopsis[edit]
Plot[edit]
Moe is babysitting Maggie and makes her a bowl of Krusty-Brand Baby Oatmeal. Maggie wants sugar in it, but there isn't any in the house as Homer took it with him. Moe decides to go and see if he can borrow some sugar from someone else, but not from Evergreen Terrace after a Christmas caroling mishap the previous Christmas. Moe and Maggie arrive at the mansion of the late Jonathan Ritzfield III, whose will is being read by Gil Gunderson. As Gil is reading the will, the lights go out and loud noises occur. When the lights come on again, the attendees find Gil halfway down the stairs and the will missing. The only piece of evidence is a single bone.
Moe immediately accuses Ned Flanders of being the culprit due to his dislike of him. However, Ned already plans to donate everything he receives from the will to charity. Apu points out that the bone may point to another person, and Moe next accuses Dr. Hibbert. However, Hibbert was Mr. Ritzfield's doctor for years and had gotten most of his money through Mr. Ritzfield's outrageously high medical bills. Next, Sideshow Mel tries to clear his name, despite Moe not believing he did it. Mel points out that the bone is actually a Krusty-Brand Child's Toy Bone and is sold for an outrageously high retail price. This leads Moe to accuse the person in the room whose outrageously high prices are a hallmark, and while Apu tries to clear his name, Moe accuses the butler, Jeeves. Apu confirms that he sold the toy bone to the butler, who reveals that his name is actually Worthington. Worthington points out that he couldn't be the culprit because he was out of the room at the time of the incident, and he has a prosthetic leg, which not only slows him down but would also mean he'd fall over if he pushed someone.
As everyone tries to work out who the culprit is, Maggie points at Gerald, who is playing with a Baby's First Skeleton set. Moe thinks that Maggie wants to play with Gerald, so he puts her down. However, Gerald tries to attack Maggie with a toy bone. As Moe goes back to accusing Ned, Maggie throws the bone at Moe, which trips him up next to the staircase. Moe deduces that Gil wasn't pushed; he tripped on the bone and fell down the stairs. However, what Moe doesn't realize is that Gerald actually knocked him down the stairs with the toy bone. Gil then comes up the stairs, revealing that he was just unconscious and lying on the will. As a reward for solving the mystery, Moe receives a thank you and a cup of sugar.
Later that day, the Simpsons return home to find Maggie and Moe playing together. Marge is excited to see Maggie again, while Homer is excited to see Moe again. As Moe tells Marge what they've been up to and then Homer and Marge ask if he can solve the mystery of the missing remote. Moe tells them that solving one mystery in a day is enough for him.
