Synopsis[edit]
- Grampa tells the kids the Christmas stories of "Bart the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Frostee the Snowmom", "The Gift of the Maggie", "Jingle Bells, Bartman Smells", and "Tree's Company". The only issue with these stories-- it's summer.
Plot[edit]
Grampa is dressed as Santa Claus while complaining that he's sweating. He realizes the kids are swimming in a pool and tells them to get out before they get trapped under the ice. Lisa points out that it's July and Bart says that it's not even winter, except in Australia. Grampa says that reminds him of another Christmas that almost didn't happen and begins to tell a story.
Bart the Red-Nosed Reindeer[edit]
At the North Pole, Santa Claus introduces Bart the Red-Nosed Reindeer to the other reindeer. They immediately take a dislike to him because of his red nose and bully him. After the bullies leave him, Bart feels sad about not fitting in. Milhouse the elf approaches Bart and says that he also doesn't fit in and the reindeer also bully him. Milhouse convinces Bart to run away with him to a place with nothing but misfits like them. Bart and Milhouse fly to the Land of Defective Toys, with all the toys there having been made by KrustyCo Inc. Krusty himself is also there, having been banished to the island due to a lawsuit. The toys want to be loved and played with, so Bart tells them that he'll put in a good word with Santa before he flies off, leaving Milhouse behind.
At the North Pole, Santa tells Mrs. Claus that they'll have to cancel Christmas because of the storm. Bart arrives at Santa's house and tells him that he can lead the sled to deliver the toys to everyone. As they fly, Bart leads them through some fog and turns his nose off. Bart then extorts Santa, telling him and the reindeer that he'll lead them out of the fog in return for all the toys. When Santa asks about the children, Bart tells Santa about the defective toys and Santa agrees to deliver those instead.
After the story, Bart is embarrassed because of Grampa's story. Marge then appears and applies sunscreen to him, embarrassing him even more, with Nelson calling Bart a snowman. This leads into Grampa's next story.
Frostee the Snowmom[edit]
At the You're On Your Own Orphanage, the kids are building a snowman together. Lisa asks why it can't be a snowwoman. Bart and Ralph both thought they were working on the head of the snowman, so they decide to stick the heads together to make a tall head. The snowwoman starts coming together and Nelson gives her a broom he found, which brings Frostee the Snowmom to life. Frostee immediately starts bossing the kids around, telling them to do chores, homework, and use their inside voices outside. While most of the kids hate this, Lisa is fine with her discipline until Frostee makes Lisa practice her saxophone outside in the cold. Lisa's saxophone freezes to her mouth and she and Bart decide to get rid of Frostee.
Bart and Lisa discuss dinner, with Bart saying that he'll cook something unhealthy. Hearing this, Frostee decides to cook something healthy instead. In the kitchen, the heat causes Frostee to melt into a puddle. The kids celebrate, thinking that they're free of Frostee, but Frostee is still sentient and tells the kids to mop her up. From that moment on, Frostee became Frostee the Mom in a Bucket. Outside, a witch shows up looking for her magic broom. Ralph runs into the house to warn the kids and Lisa throws Frostee over the witch, causing her to melt.
After this story, Bart points out that Grampa is now ripping off The Wizard of Oz, which Grampa has apparently never heard of. Lisa points out that it's a classic film that is often shown at Christmas, which leads Grampa to his next Christmas classic story.
The Gift of the Maggie[edit]
On Christmas day, Maggie is shocked to find that while she had sold her pacifier to buy Gerald a jar of Monobrow Jack's Eyebrow Wax, Gerald had sold his eyebrow to a wig shop to buy Maggie a pacifier cozy. The two babies then cried until Easter.
Jingle Bells, Bartman Smells[edit]
The people of Springfield liked Christmas a lot. However, Gil did not as he just wanted peace and quiet. Gil thinks that he might be able to fake his own death and collect the insurance, but then decides to stop Christmas from coming instead. Meanwhile, Bartman and Houseboy are chasing a criminal down and successfully capture him. Bartman goes home but finds that someone has stolen the presents from his house. He notices Gil on the roof, in an Easter Bunny costume, and confronts him. Gil reveals that while he's trying to steal presents, it's harder than he thought it would be. Meanwhile, with the police out of action and Bartman distracted with Gil, the criminals of Springfield break into people's houses and steal the presents. Soon, everybody in Springfield gathers in the Springfield Town Square and then starts looting the town.
Tree's Company[edit]
At the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant, the employees are dancing for the Christmas pageant. Mr. Burns is unhappy with the performance and Smithers suggests that a Christmas tree could help. Burns tells Smithers to organize five acres of rainforest brought in so they could find the best tree, but Smithers says that'll make Sting cry. Burns then tells Homer to find the most beautiful Christmas tree in town, or he'll get fired. Homer brings Lenny along with him.
Homer and Lenny go to a Christmas tree farm and Homer selects a tiny tree with no leaves, saying that it just needs a little love. He and Lenny go back to the Power Plant after getting attacked by some wolves, and Carl and Smithers are unhappy with the tree. Homer then waters the tree with radioactive water, causing it to suddenly grow huge, making Burns happy. Bart briefly interrupts the story to ask if it's going to be a story where a Christmas tree comes to life and attacks everyone, but Grampa tells him that it's the fruit cakes that come to life instead.
After this story, Bart and Lisa reiterate that it's not Christmas. Grampa asks them if they want presents, but all the kids are disappointed to find that the presents are things he found around the Springfield Retirement Castle. Grampa then does a cannonball into the swimming pool.
