  • The prehistoric sequences are a parody of the TV series Primal. In Primal, just like in this episode, extinct dinosaurs, Ice Age mammals, and post-metallurgy Homo sapiens are all coexisting in a single time period.
  • Marge points out how Milhouse makes her watch him performing the moonwalk, the famous dance move made famous by Michael Jackson.
  • To point out how expensive the location Homer bought was, he shows Marge a video of the kids of British former footballer and businessman David Beckham throwing up in the Front Row Club.
  • The third grade were doing a production of West Side Story. The vandalized background Luann reveals is based on the iconic Upper West Side neighborhood in New York City, in which the musical is set.
