- Robby the Automaton is a parody of Robby the Robot from the film Forbidden Planet.
- Robby the Automaton asks if anyone wandered which of The Three Stooges had the heaviest brain.
- Bart says "Houston, we have a booger.", a reference to the erroneous quote "Houston, we have a problem".
