"Gump Roast" is the seventeenth episode of season 13 of The Simpsons and the two-hundred and eighty-sixth episode overall. It originally aired on April 21, 2002. The episode was written by Deb Lacusta and Dan Castellaneta and directed by Mark Kirkland. It guest stars Ed Asner as himself, Alec Baldwin as himself, Kim Basinger as herself, Stephen Hawking as himself, Ron Howard as himself, Elton John as himself, Lucy Lawless as herself, Joe Namath as himself, 'N Sync as themselves, Elizabeth Taylor as herself and U2 as themselves, all in archive clips.
Synopsis[edit]

Plot[edit]
A feather floats down from the sky and lands in Springfield town square next to Homer's feet. Much like Forrest Gump, Homer is dressed in a white suit, sitting rigidly on a bench with a box of chocolates in his lap. Chief Wiggum tells Homer about a law preventing citizens from impersonating movie characters. Homer then begins to tell Wiggum his life story. In flashback, Homer chases a young boy with leg braces, but Homer quickly runs out of breath and stops.
