The Waterfront is the name given to Springfield's boardwalk and those businesses in its vicinity.

History

The Waterfront was once the center of a thriving squid-gutting industry decades ago. It was than abandoned by all except a few longshoremen and allied trades people.

Mr. Burns chose to build his casino on the Waterfront. After a week of success, however, it was forgotten. Yet, the town bothered to bring it when they moved.

The Waterfront was revived again when an upscale shopping promenade The South Street Squidport was built.
