Trivia

  • This is the first episode to have Mr. Burns' name somewhere in the title.
  • The shot of Mr. Burns looking at Homer listening to the people about after when he returned is stock footage from "Homer's Odyssey".
  • Mr. Burn's "hot dog" line is recycled from "Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish".
  • This episode marks the first time the United States uses the full version of the current theme music.
  • Some of the things Bart plans to use the $5,200 for are: drive a monster truck, sky write "Eat my shorts" with a jetpack and drink a cement truck full of frosty chocolate milkshake. The frosty chocolate milkshake is a reference to the Simpsons shorts.
  • The episode’s title is not written in grammatically correct German. The proper form would be “Burns verkauft das Kraftwerk.”
